NIT Delhi Overview
National Institute of Technology Delhi (NITD) is one of the 31 NITs established by the Government of India. NITD was established in 2010 by an act of parliament and has been declared an institute of national importance. The institute has received academic affiliation from the Ministry of Education.
NITD offers BTech, MTech, and Ph.D programs in various disciplines such as Engineering, Management, Social Science and Humanities. Some of the specialisations offered in the BTech program are Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc. The institute also offers full-time and half-time Ph.D programs. NIT New Delhi Admission
The admission process for BTech is based on the JEE Mains and JoSAA counselling. NIT Delhi offers a wide range of specialisations in the BTech programs, such as Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc. The fee for BTech program is INR 64,500 per semester.
For the MTech program, admissions are done on the basis of a valid GATE score, followed by CCMT counselling. Candidates can choose from a variety of specialisations like Applied Sciences, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc. The admission to the MCA course is done on the basis of the NIMCET exam. The fee for MTech courses is INR 37,000 per semester.
Admissions for the Ph.D program are carried out through the institute’s entrance exam. Candidates need to fill out the online application form on the official website of the institute. An application fee of INR 1000 for the General categories and INR 500 for reserved categories (SC/ST) must be paid online. NIT New Delhi Admission Eligibility Criteria 2025
B.Tech admission at NIT New Delhi is based on JEE Mains, followed by the JoSAA counselling process only. It is compulsory to submit the provisional seat allotment letter downloaded from the JoSAA website at the time of admission. Candidates belonging to reserved categories need to submit their original reserved category certificate.
Admission to the MTech program at NITD is based on a valid GATE score and the CCMT centralised counselling process. Candidates must have a BTech/B.E. degree to be eligible for the MTech program. Other necessary documents like category certificate, GATE marksheet and seat allotment letter from CCMT should be submitted offline.
The institute offers admission to Ph.D programs through an entrance exam. Candidates shortlisted from the entrance exam have to appear for an offline interview. Candidates must have a Master’s degree in engineering/technology with a minimum of 60% marks in the relevant field. Moreover, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another relevant field with a minimum of 80% marks are also eligible for the PhD program at NIT Delhi.
NIT New Delhi Placement 2025
NITD received more than 150 offers for both internships and full-time placements from leading companies. The institute achieved an excellent placement record with 88% candidates getting placed. The highest salary package achieved in the recent placement drive is INR 62 LPA. Moreover, the average salary package received by the candidates is INR 15.59 LPA.
In the BTech program, the overall placement rate was 65.12%. Computer Science & Engineering(CSE) was the most decorated specialisation with a total of 67.30% candidates placed with reputed organisations. The highest salary package in the BTech(CSE) was INR 50 LPA. Some of the major recruiters of NIT Delhi are Adobe, MakeMyTrip, FIITJEE, Samsung, Optum, etc.
NIT New Delhi Scholarships 2025
NITD offers scholarships at the Graduate and Postgraduate levels for candidates belonging to reserved categories(SC/ST). To meet the eligibility criteria, the total family income of the candidate should not exceed INR 4,50,000 per annum. During the scholarship program, the tuition fee for the entire course is waived. The application process for the scholarship program must be completed online through the National e-Scholarship Portal (NeSP).
