NIFT Srinagar Overview
The National Institute of Fashion started its academic journey in the year 2016 from a temporary campus in Rangreth, Srinagar, by providing undergraduate programs like B.Des in Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion & Life Style Accessories, and Textile Design. The institute was established under the Ministry of Textiles (Govt. of India).
NIFT Srinagar is a fully fledged educational institute at Ompora, Budgam, J&K with a campus on an area of 16.5 acres. NIFT Srinagar Campus has an Academic Block, Administrative Block, Auditorium, Residential quarters, amphitheatre, Sport Fields, Gymnasium, Canteen, Parking, etc, which attracts the students to complete their higher studies.
NIFT Srinagar offers undergraduate, postgraduate, as well as Continuing Education programs like B.Des in different specialisations: Fashion Design, Fashion Communication (FC), and Master's in Fashion Management (MFM). Candidates who completed their 10+2 and have a Bachelorās degree with minimum aggregate marks can enrol for any Undergraduate, postgraduate program or CE program of NIFT Srinagar. Along with the eligibility criteria, the University also conducts entrance exams like the Common Admission Test and General Ability Test for the admission of the candidates, which is followed by a personal interview.

NIFT Srinagar Admission
Candidates who have a bachelorās degree as well as completed their Class 12 from a recognised educational institution and board, respectively, can enrol in any of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered. Apart from this, the National Institute of Fashion Technology also conducts entrance exams, CAT+GAT, followed by a personal interview.
The application forms for the entrance examinations will be released in November 2025 (tentative), and the last date for admission is January 2026 (tentative). Students who miss the deadline for filling out the application forms will be charged INR 5000 as the late fee by the University. The last date for the personal interview and document verification at Test Centres will be April 2026 (tentative).
In addition, 12 seats will be reserved for the domicile candidates of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and Kashmiri migrants as state domicile Preferential Seats for the admission.

National Institute of Fashion Technology Srinagar Eligibility Criteria 2025
It is mandatory for every candidate willing to enrol for any undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the National Institute of Fashion Technology Srinagar, to complete the eligibility criteria before enrolling. Students can check the eligibility criteria from this section:
Educational Qualification: Students who are interested in enrolling for the undergraduate as well as postgraduate programs of NIFT Srinagar need to complete 10+2 from a well-recognised state/central board, along with that, a bachelorās degree with 50% of marks (45% for reserved categories).
Qualifying Age: The maximum age of the enrolling candidates in the National Institute of Fashion Technology Srinagar must be 24 years. Candidates from reserved categories (SC, ST) have a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
Entrance exam: Along with the eligibility criteria, the National Institute of Fashion Technology Srinagar also conducts the NIFT Entrance exam, consisting of the Creative Ability Test (CET) and the General Ability Test (GAT) for admission, which is further followed by a personal interview and document verification.

NIFT Srinagar also provides different scholarship schemes so that the students from economically backward classes or financially weak backgrounds can study at the University easily. The scholarship schemes of NIFT Srinagar include:
āSarthakā NIFT Financial Assistance: āSarthakā NIFT Financial Assistance is the first scholarship scheme offered at NIFT Srinagar. The objective of this scheme is to ensure that students with financial difficulties are not deprived of the opportunity to study at NIFT Srinagar.
āUdaanā NIFT Scholarship scheme for Foreign studies: Regular students belonging to the EWS Section who fulfil the requirements of the Sarthak NIFT Financial Assistance scheme are also eligible for the "Udaan" NIFT Scholarship scheme for Foreign studies.
National Scholarship: Reserved category (SC, ST) Candidates studying at NIFT Srinagar are also eligible to apply for the National Scholarship scheme of the Indian Government available on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
