IIT Jammu was established in 2016 and iit jammu address is Jagti, Jammu & Kashmir. The institute is an autonomous public Institute funded by the Government of India. It was conferred as an ‘Institute of National Importance' under the ‘Institutes of Technology Act’ of 1961.

IIT Jammu Admission
IIT Jammu admission 2026-27 is currently ongoing for several courses, and candidates will be eligible for admission on the basis of marks secured in Class 12 and the entrance test score, conducted throughout the nation. To confirm seats in IITJ, candidates are required to partake in the counselling process after the declaration of the national exams. Candidates who qualify for the basic requirements can visit the institute’s official website and fill out the application form for their preferred course.
National-level entrance tests such as JEE Main/ Advanced, GATE, and IIT-JAM for courses like BS, BTech, MTech, and MSc, respectively, have been conducted already. Seat allocation, which is done in multiple phases, is still in process.

IIT Jammu Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026
To enrol at IIT Jammu courses like BTech, BS, MTech, MSc, or PhD, a candidate is required to meet the basic eligibility criteria, which are as follows:
To get admission into UG programs, candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum required percentage in the relevant subjects.
BS: Class 12 with a minimum of 75% (65% for the reserved category) in PCM and English, and must have qualified for JEE Main/ Advanced Score.
BTech: A student must have a minimum of 75% (65% for the reserved category) in Class 12 with PCM and have qualified for JEE Advanced.
To get admission at IIT Jammu to pursue PG programs, a candidate will need a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum required percentage.
MTech: The Basic requirement is to have either a BE/ BTech or an equivalent Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 65% to 60% (5% relaxation is given to reserved category) and have a qualifying score in the GATE exam.
MSc: To get admission to an MSc course, a candidate must have a BS or an equivalent Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with at least 60% and a valid IIT-JAM score.
NOTE: 5% relaxation is provided to reserved category students.
For PhD admission, a candidate will be required to have a Master’s degree with a minimum of 50% and have a valid GATE, UGC-CSIR, NET-JRF, GPAT, NBHM, ICMR (JS), ICAR (JS). Candidates who have a BTech degree with at least 8 CGPA from IITs, IIITs, NITs, IISc, and IISERs are also eligible for the PhD program without any GATE score.
IIT Jammu Placement 2025
IIT Jammu is known for providing career opportunities to its students through placement drives and internships. IITJ has collaborated with top international recruitment agencies such as Accenture Japan, Money Forward Japan, JTP, and Nanyang Technological University Singapore for placement purposes. The institute saw active participation in the placement drive from top firms like Amazon, Nvidia, American Express, HDFC Bank, Mahindra Rise, TCS, etc.
A total of 70.8% students had received offers from the top firms in the placement drive of 2025, reflecting strong IIT Jammu MTech placement opportunities.
IIT Jammu Scholarships 2025
Multiple scholarships, assistantships, and fellowships are provided to students who want to pursue higher studies at IIT Jammu. These scholarships are granted to meritorious and economically weaker section students. Some of the scholarships are Merit and Means (MCM), Free Messing, and Freeship.
Fellowship programs are provided to UG and PG students who want to continue working with the IIT Jammu faculty after their graduation.
Merit cum Means (MCM): This scholarship is granted to 25% of total strength of candidates who belongs to General / EWS/ OBC-NCL and whose family annual income is not more than INR 4.5 Lakh. The candidates eligible for this scholarship receive 100% tuition fee concession and INR 1000 as a monthly allowance.
Free Messing: This scholarship is available for students who belong to reserved categories. The recipients of this scholarship are eligible for free messing and a monthly pocket allowance of INR 250.
