IIT Jammu provides BS, BTech, MSc, MTech, and some PhD courses in CSE, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, VLSI Design, Structural Engineering, etc. The admission for these courses is based on academic marks obtained in Class 12 and a valid score in national-level entrance exams (JEE Main/Advanced, GATE, IIT JAM), followed by a counselling process. Results of various entrance examinations such as JEE Advanced and IIT-JAM have been declared, and the students who have qualified for these exams are advised to participate in the seat allocation process. JoSAA counselling for the first round was concluded on 25 June 2026 (Tentative). For those students who have appeared for JEE Advanced for the BTech program.
Admissions for the academic year 2026-27 are open, and applicants who have appeared for the national-level examination and have achieved qualifying scores can participate in the allotment process. The application form for the BS (Bachelor of Science) course was released on June 2026 (Tentative) at IIT Jammu. Students who want to pursue higher studies at IIT Jammu for this course are advised to visit the official website and apply before the last date once it is officially announced.
Programs like BTech, MTech, and MSc, the admission list and cutoff list have been released. Students who have acquired valid scores can partake in the seat allotment process before the set date. The following dates have been given below; one can go through them. At the time of admission, students will be required to pay an amount of INR 6,740 as an admission fee.

IIT Jammu has several courses to offer in a vast range of disciplines like Bioscience and Bioengineering, CE, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, CSE, ME, etc. These courses include BTech, BS, MTech, MSC, and PhD.
IIT Jammu courses require different eligibility criteria depending on the level of the program. For example, UG courses require a minimum of Class 12, while PG courses require a bachelor’s degree, and a master’s degree is required for the PhD program at IIT Jammu.
UG Eligibility Criteria:
Minimum Requirement: Passed Class 12 with 75% (65% for reserved category) in PCM
A valid JEE Main score (for BS) and a valid JEE Advanced Score (BTech)
Must appear in JoSAA Counselling
PG Eligibility Criteria:
For MTech: Either have a BE/ BTech or equivalent Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% with a valid GATE score.
For MSc: BS or equivalent Bachelor's degree with a valid IIT-JAM score.
NOTE: BTech from IIT with 8 CGPA will be admitted directly.
PhD Eligibility Criteria:
Must have a Master’s degree in the relevant field, and if the candidate is an alumnus of any IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, IISERs, with an excellent academic score in bachelor's with at least 8 CGPA, will be admitted directly.
BTech and Bachelor of Science (BS) courses are offered at the UG level at IIT Jammu in many Engineering and Technology disciplines such as CE, Civil Engineering, ME, CSE, etc. The entry-level requirement for the UG course is to have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths being the major subjects and must have acquired a valid score in JEE Mains/Advanced.
A candidate who wants to pursue a UG course must pay the required fee, which includes the admission fee, security charges, hostel fee (if chosen), tuition fee, etc. The tuition fee will cost from INR 33,333 to candidates whose family income is less than INR 5 Lakh per annum to INR 1,00,000 per semester for candidates whose family income is more than INR 5 Lakh per annum.
To get admission for the BTech course, which is a 4-year UG course, offered in a wide range of fields like CE, CSE, EE, ME, etc. The admissions for BTech are done through merit and a national-level entrance test. If the candidate has obtained a minimum of 75% (65% for reserved category) in Class with PCM, s/he is eligible for BTech admissions. The IIT Jammu MTech cutoff is also released based on GATE scores, and candidates must meet the required cutoff to secure admission in their preferred specialisation. The seat allotment for the second round has started and will continue till May 2026 (Tentative).
IIT Jammu has MSc and MTech as its PG programs in multiple fields, including CE, Biosciences and Bioengineering, CSE, Civil Engg., ME, etc. Admissions for the PG course will be based on national entrance exams and a bachelor’s degree. Accepted exams at the PG level are GATE for MTech and IIT-JAM for MSc. The minimum tuition fee structure for these two programs is INR 6,500 to INR 20,000 per semester.
The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu has opened admissions for its IIT Jammu MTech courses for the academic session 2026–27. Admission is offered in a variety of disciplines, including CSE, Structural Engineering, VLSI Design, Communications and Signal Processing, Thermal and Energy Systems Engineering, Mechanical System Design, and Medical Devices.
To be eligible, applicants must have a UG degree with at least 60 to 65% (5% relaxation for the reserved category) marks and possess a valid GATE score. The selection process is typically based on GATE scores and academic performance in a Bachelor's program. The M.Tech program is a two-year full-time course, and the tuition fee for the M.Tech program is INR 20,000 per semester.
A PhD is offered in various courses at IIT Jammu, in various Engineering and Technology specialisations. The basic eligibility for a PhD is to have a Master’s degree in a relevant field and a GATE/ UGC-NET/ CSIR / JRF, etc score or a bachelor’s degree with an aggregate of 8 CGPA and above. The tuition fee is INR 10,000 per semester.
