IIT Goa Overview
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa is a premier institute established in 2016 under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. The institute has many national and international collaborations, like RRCAT Indore, ARM India University, ALCOLAB India LLP, etc. IIT Goa’s alumni received many recognitions, like the Goa Rajya Vidnyanik Puraskar and the Best Paper Award.
The institute is known for offering various UG and PG programs, such as BTech and MTech in various streams like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, etc. It also offers PhD programs across different specialisations like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Chemical Engineering, etc. Admission to BTech and MTech is based on the JEE Advanced and GATE scores.
IIT Goa conducts a 6-month internship program in the 7th semester for BTech students. During the internship, candidates must complete a technical project in a relevant industry. The institute provides various modern infrastructures with facilities for the Gym, Basketball Court, Indoor Badminton court, etc.
The campus consists of an IT department with computer labs and a seminar hall. The academic building has a central library with books, novels and scientific journals. Moreover, the institute offers campus placements and internship programs to eligible and deserving students.

IIT Goa Admission
Various IIT goa courses such as B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD programs are offered by Goa IIT. The BTech program is offered in different specialisations including Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc. Admission to B.Tech is based on the JEE Advanced scores. Candidates who fulfil the cut-off criteria will be selected for counselling sessions. The tuition fee for BTech course is INR 1,16,750 per semester.
On the other hand, the M.Tech program is offered across different fields, such as Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc. The iit goa admission to the MTech program is based on the GATE score. Candidates must apply for the MTech program through the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). The fee for MTech courses is INR 22,050 per semester.
Candidates can also apply for full-time or part-time Ph.D programs at IIT Goa. The fee for the Ph.D program is INR 21,300 per semester. Students can apply for the PhD programs directly through the institute’s official website. To become eligible for admission, candidates must qualify for the IIT Goa Entrance exam. At the time of admission, students need to pay an application fee of INR 200 (General) and INR 100 (Reserved categories and female candidates). Candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria set by the institute for admission.

IIT Goa Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026
IIT Goa consists of a school-based academic structure offering BTech courses in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc. The institute follows a no-fail grading policy during the first semester, followed by a 6-month internship program. BTech selection process is based on the JEE Advanced scores.
For candidates pursuing MTech, the institute offers opportunities in Computer Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc. The M.Tech admission is based on the GATE score. For admission in Ph.D program, candidates can apply with or without the Master’s degree. Entrance exams like GATE, CSIR, UGC-NET, and JEST are accepted by the institute for PhD admission.
IIT Goa Placements 2025
IIT Goa placement has a strong record with more than 90% placement rate in both BTech and MTech programs. Companies from various sectors like Software Engineering, Product Management, Research & Development, and Research Engineering hire eligible candidates with competitive salary packages. The IIT Goa average package offered to students was INR 16.3 LPA with 100% placement rate in MTech.
Many top companies like Adobe, Discovery, Siemens, Google, GE Aerospace, and Accenture Japan visited the campus for recruitments. The IIT Goa CSE average package is generally higher due to strong demand in the software and product-based sectors. The institute also provides internships to candidates to further improve their skill set. The highest salary package offered to candidates in the recent campus placements was INR 60 LPA. The IIT Goa Civil Engineering average package is comparatively moderate and varies based on core and non-core job roles.
IIT Goa Scholarships 2025
IIT Goa offers scholarships to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate candidates. Students who fulfil the basic eligibility criteria can apply for a scholarship from the institute.
Merit-based Scholarship is available for non-SC/ST candidates for BTech program admission. Only 25% of the total candidates are eligible for a scholarship on a merit basis. Candidates will be selected based on JEE Advanced rank. However, a minimum of 6.0 CGPA is required to become eligible for the scholarship.
Means Scholarship is available for candidates whose annual parental income is less than INR 4,50,000 are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The top 25% students will be eligible for this scholarship. Eligible students will receive the scholarship for two semesters (8 months) in total.
