IIT Goa Admission Process
IIT Goa is one of the best technological institutes due to its well-designed Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD programs. Candidates can choose from a variety of subjects like Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc. The BTech program admission is based on the JEE Advanced examination.
For MTech admission, the GATE score is required during the admission process. PhD candidates are selected based on their previous qualifications and the entrance exam conducted by the institute. Entrance exams recognised by the institute are also applicable for admission to Ph.D programs.

IIT Goa Eligibility Criteria 2026
IIT Goa offers BTech, MTech and Ph.D programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Candidates can apply for the BTech program through the JEE Advanced exam. The final allotment of seats and courses will be done after the JoSAA counselling session. Admission in MTech is based on the candidate's performance in the GATE score.
Interested candidates can apply for the MTech program through the official website. Candidates must have a UG degree in BTech for admission in the MTech program. The institute conducts entrance exams for admission to PhD programs. Candidates need to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria set by the institute for admission to the PhD program.
IIT Goa Undergraduate Admission 2026
BTech programs are offered by IIT Goa at the UG level in different specialisations like Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc. The admission to B.Tech is based on the candidate’s rank in JEE Advanced. Candidates will be allotted their preferred course after the JoSAA counselling session.
The fee for the BTech program is INR 1,16,750 per semester. The application process for the BTech program can be done on the official website of JEE Advanced. Candidates will need to submit an application fee of INR 3200 for the General category and INR 1600 for reserved categories and female candidates.
Eligibility criteria
Age Limit: Born on or after 1 October 2000 (1 October 1995 for SC/ST).
Number of attempts: Two attempts, two consecutive years for JEE Advanced.
Qualification: Passed Class 12 in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as compulsory subjects.
IIT Goa BTech Admission 2026
The BTech program of IIT Goa offers many courses like Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing. The duration of the BTech program is 4 years. Admissions for BTech programs are based on the candidate’s score in the JEE Advanced exam.
Candidates who fulfil the cut-off criteria are selected for counselling sessions. The final allotment of seats will be done in the counselling session based on the candidate's rank. The IIT goa fees for the BTech program is INR 1,16,750 per semester. The application fee for the JEE Advanced exam is INR 3200 for (General) and INR 1600 (Reserved Categories and Female Candidates).
IIT Goa Postgraduate Admission 2026
IIT Goa offers PG programs such as M.Tech in different fields like Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering. Candidates interested in MTech programs are required to register on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Candidates can then apply directly from the IIT Goa official website. Once the application is finalised, candidates can pay the fees to reserve their seats.
Candidates must have a valid GATE score to become eligible for the MTech program. The fee for MTech is INR 22,050 per semester.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates must have a BE/ B.Tech degree with a minimum of 60% marks or CPI of 6.0 out of 10.0 (55% marks OR CPI of 5.5 out of 10.0 for SC/ST) for MTech, along with a valid GATE score.
IIT Goa MTech Admission 2026
The institute offers MTech programs in various branches like Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. The duration of MTech courses is 2 years which includes the first year of coursework.
Admission to the MTech program is done through the candidate’s score in the GATE exam. Candidates also need to fulfil the eligibility criteria set by the institute. The MTech program requires candidates to complete 53 credits throughout the course. Out of 53 credits, 24 are completed from the M.Tech thesis.
IIT Goa PhD Admission 2026
IIT Goa also offers PhD programs in different streams like Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Economics, Computer Science & Engineering, etc. Candidates can apply online on the institute’s official website by submitting the mandatory documents. The application process requires an online fee of INR 200 for the General category and INR 100 for reserved categories and female candidates.
After the application process is done, entrance tests will be conducted to shortlist the final candidates. The tuition fee for the PhD program is INR 21,300. To become eligible for admission, students must have completed one of the eligibility criteria given below:

Candidates must have a PG Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with 60% marks. (55% marks for SC/ST) Or UG or equivalent degree in Engineering/Technology with 70% marks(65% marks for SC/ST) Or PG degree in Science, Arts, Social Sciences with 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST).
Additional Requirements For PhD Admission
Valid GATE score.
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR Fellowship in the relevant streams.
B.Tech/Dual degree from IIT with a minimum CPI/CGPA of 8.0
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
