The Doctoral program takes four years to complete. It mainly focuses on research and practical learning. Students should finish the course within these four years. The PhD for Working Professionals (PhD-WP) is designed to be completed in four years. It includes rigorous coursework that all scholars must complete within this time.
If a candidate cannot finish in four years, they may be allowed to continue based on their progress. After four years, an extension of up to two more years may be given with approval from the Doctoral Committee.
Every scholar must attend an immersion program at the IIM Shillong campus. This program lasts one week and is held twice a year, usually in May and December, at the start of each module.
In total, a research scholar will spend about 2 to 3 weeks each year on campus for contact sessions during their doctoral journey. The schedule will be shared with students roughly one month before each module begins.
Comprehensive Qualifying Examination (CQE)
