The IIM Shillong Post Graduate Program (PGP) prepares students into responsible and competent business leaders. The two-year program includes core courses, and elective courses, workshops, and a two-month internship. In the second year, students are given the opportunity to select an independent study topic and take Capstone courses. To get admission in the PGP program students need a bachelor’s degree and at least 50% marks or equivalent. The minimum mark for SC, ST, and differently-abled applicants is 45%.

Applicants for the PGP course should have completed graduation with 50% marks or equivalent. For SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates, 45% marks are accepted.

IIM Shillong PGPEx Admission Details

The PGPEx program at IIM Shillong is a one-year full-time course for working professionals. It offers global exposure, hands-on learning, and focuses on sustainability and innovation.

The IIM Shillong admission process for the 2026-27 PGPEx will be held in two rounds. Each round has its own schedule for applications, interviews, group discussions, and results. Details are shared with the applicants. Eligible students can apply in any one round. The remaining seats after the first round will be filled in the second round.

A candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university with at least 50% marks.

Experience

Candidates must have at least 5 years of full-time work experience after completing their bachelor’s degree (as of 31st March 2026). Those with at least 1 year of work experience outside India get a relaxation of 1 year.

Qualifying Examination/Eligibility

To apply, candidates need a valid score in CAT or GMAT/GMAT Focus. A minimum of 50 percentile in CAT or 500 marks in GMAT is required. IIM Shillong will accept valid scorecards only till the last date of the application round.

IIM Shillong PGPEx Application Procedure 

Candidates who meet the IIM Shillong admission eligibility must apply online. The application fee is INR 3,000 and is non-refundable. Applicants should select three preferred centres for the Executive Assessment. The institute will share the final venue and schedule. Candidates living outside India can attend the process online.

Shortlisting of Applicants for the PGPEx 2026 Executive Assessment Centre

The Admission Committee will consider all the applications. Those who satisfy the eligibility rules will be shortlisted. They will be invited to the Executive Assessment Centre. The process will include a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview.

IIM Shillong PGPEx Selection Process 

The selection process for PGPEx has two phases.

Phase 1: Shortlisted candidates attend the Executive Assessment Centre (EAC), which includes a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview. Details are given to candidates on the day of the assessment.

Phase 2: A merit list is prepared based on performance in the GD and PI. Admission offers and waitlists are released according to government reservation rules.

Reservation Policy

The institute follows the reservation rules set by the Government of India.

Important points 

  1. IIM Shillong can change the shortlisting or selection rules anytime if needed.

  2. The admission process is based on the details given by candidates. If any false information is found, the application will be cancelled.

  3. Selection criteria are decided based on CAT/GMAT/GRE scores and past performance. IIM Shillong can change these rules anytime.

  4. Selected candidates must show proof of graduation and experience at the time of admission.

  5. Class 10 and 12 marks will be calculated based on all subjects shown in the marksheet.

  6. Work experience will be counted only if proper documents like joining and leaving letters or salary proofs are given.

  7. IIM Shillong’s selection process is separate from other IIMs.

  8. The shortlist will be announced on the IIM Shillong website. Candidates must visit the site for updates.

  10. Final results will include candidates who appeared for the EAC process. Waitlisted candidates will get offers if seats are available.

IIM Shillong PGPWE Admission Details

The PGPWE program is one of the IIM Shillong Courses for working people who want to grow in their jobs. It helps those in business, government, research, teaching, and social work. This course lets professionals study while working. It improves their management and leadership skills.

The IIM Shillong Courses like PGPWE are for experienced people. They can use what they learn in class in their daily work.

Qualifying Examination/Eligibility

Admission includes a written test called Working Executive Management Aptitude Test (WE-MAT). This test is similar to the CAT exam conducted by IIMs. Candidates with at least 50 percentile in CAT or a 500 score in GMAT do not need to take the WE-MAT. IIM Shillong accepts CAT scores from the last 2 years and GMAT scores from the last 5 years.


IIM Shillong PGPWE Admission Process 

The PGPWE admission process has a few steps.

  • First, candidates must fill out the application form.

  • Those without a valid CAT or GMAT score must take the WE-MAT exam.

  • After that, shortlisted candidates will be informed for the interview.

  • The interview will be held online.

  • Finally, selected and waitlisted candidates will be announced.

Important Points 

Only meeting the basic eligibility does not ensure admission or an interview call. The admission team will review all applications carefully. The admission committee may set more rules based on the number and quality of applications.

IIM Shillong PhD Admission Details

The Indian Institute of Management Shillong started its Doctoral Program in 2012 to promote research and learning. The program helps students gain knowledge and explore new ideas in management. It focuses on solving real business problems and offering new views on existing theories and models.

The Doctoral Program in IIM Shillong Courses is a four-year program. The first year includes intensive coursework to build research skills. Students learn how to do modern and useful research in their chosen fields. After completing the coursework, they take a Comprehensive Qualifying Exam (CQE). Once they pass, they start working on their doctoral dissertation. From the second year, scholars work with their guides to find research gaps, make a research plan, and publish their work in good journals.

Applicants must have a master’s degree after a bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 system) or a 5-year integrated master’s degree after 10+2. Students must have a minimum of 55% graduation marks and 60 percent post-graduation marks.

OR

Applicants who possess a 4-year graduation degree (10+2+4 system) are also eligible provided they possess a postgraduate degree with minimum CGPA of 6.5 or equivalent.

OR

Professional courses such as CA, ICWA, or CS also can apply, provided they have at least 55% marks in B.Com.

OR

SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates get a 5% relaxation in marks or equivalent grade.

Applicants who already have a two-year PGDM from any IIM with 60% CGPA or more do not need to submit a test score. They can apply directly through the form.

Qualifying Examination/Eligibility

Candidates who qualify the eligibility rules and have taken the CAT exam in the last two years can apply.

Those who have valid scores in GATE, GRE, GMAT, UGC-NET, or CSIR UGC-NET can also apply.

Age Limit 

Applicants should be below 30 years of age as of 1 June 2026. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, DA categories, as well as women and transgender applicants, get up to 5 years of age relaxation.


Admission Process

The PhD 2026 admission process includes the following steps:

  1. Candidates must fill out the application form and add a short research proposal. This proposal should mention the topic they plan to study.

  2. Based on the profile and proposal, candidates will be shortlisted for a personal interview or interaction.

  3. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about the next stage.

  4. Each applicant must choose three preferred venues for the interview. The institute will confirm the final venue and schedule.

  5. A personal interview or interaction will be held with the candidate.

  6. Selected candidates will receive an admission offer.

  • The application fee is INR 1000 for General category candidates (non-refundable).

  • For SC, ST, and DA candidates, there is no application fee.

IIM Shillong PhD (WP) Admission Details
