CGC University Mohali was established in 2025 by the Chandigarh Educational Society. It was set up through the C.G.C. University Mohali Act 2025, approved by the Government of Punjab. The university is officially recognised as a State (Private) University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act 1956.
Before becoming a university, it was known as Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri. The institute has over 25 years of experience in higher education. During this time, it received the NAAC A+ grade with a high CGPA of 3.46/4.0, showing its strong performance in teaching, research, and overall quality.
CGC University Mohali has earned top positions in national rankings. It has been ranked 3rd among the Best Private Commerce Colleges in Punjab by India Today, ranked 4th among the Top Private Engineering Colleges in Punjab by Outlook, and ranked 2nd in Punjab amongst Engineering Colleges by Times Engineering.

The university offers courses at the UG, PG, Diploma, and PhD levels. This includes B.Tech, B.Sc, BCA, BBA, MBA+, M.Tech, MCA, and many more. This university also offers industry collaborative programs in B.Tech, BCA, BBA, MCA, and MBA with well-established companies like EY, IBM, KPMG, and OS-SCi.
Admission to these courses is based either on merit or the CGCUET exam. The CGCUET (Chandigarh Group of Colleges University Entrance Test) is a scholarship-cum-entrance exam required for admission to various UG/PG courses. To apply for any course, candidates need to pay the INR 1000 registration fee through accepted payment mode.

Likewise, the ‘Venture Nest’ is the Business Incubator Association of CGC University, which is a launchpad of innovation and entrepreneurship.

CGC University Mohali Admission 2026
CGC University, Mohali offers admissions to a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, Diploma, and PhD programs across fields like Engineering, Business Management, Computer Applications, Pharmacy, Law, and more.
For popular programs such as B.Tech, candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 60% marks, including Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Selection is based on CGCUET scores, ensuring merit-based entry.
The University also offers postgraduate courses such as M.Tech and MBA, which have been upgraded to MBA+, and require students to clear eligibility criteria for the course they want to get admission in, and also appear for the entrance examination organised by the University.
For the academic year 2026-27, admission is ongoing, and CGCUET offers a Scholarship worth up to INR 50 crore. Registrations for the CGCUET will close on 30th March 2026.
CGC University Mohali Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026
The admission eligibility criteria may differ for the courses offered by the university. Before applying, students must meet the basic eligibility requirements set by the CGC University. Here’s an overview of the courses offered:
For admission to the B.Tech (CSE): Candidates should have completed their Class 12 from a board recognised by the Central/State Government with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects, along with one subject from Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, IT, Biology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, or a vocational subject. They must have at least 60% marks (55% for the reserved category) in these subjects combined.
Or Students from the Vocational stream in the same or related sector are also eligible.
Or those who have completed a 3-year Diploma from a recognised State Board of Technical Education or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal, with at least 60% marks (55% for reserved category) can apply.
Or Candidates with a 2-year certificate course from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal, with at least 60% marks (55% for reserved category) are also eligible.
To be eligible for M.Tech (CSE), students must have completed B.E. or B.Tech in fields like Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Systems, Information Security, Cyber Security, Computational Engineering, Machine Learning, IoT, or Data Science with at least 55% marks (50% for the reserved category).
Completion of Class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST category) from a recognised board is required for admission to the BCA program.
For BA LLB (Integrated) admission, students must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST and physically handicapped candidates).
To get admitted to the Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports (B.P.E.S.) program, candidates must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised board with at least 50% marks (45% for the reserved categories).
