IIT JAM 2026: Registration Extended, Submit Applications Before New Deadline

The registration for IIT JAM 2026, which is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, has extended the last date for registration, which gives a few extra days to apply for postgraduate science courses like M.Sc., Ph.D., and other related programs that are offered by the IITs and other top institutes across the country. 

Students who have completed their bachelor’s degree or are in the final year of their degree courses can apply for the exam. There is no limit for the exam; all ages can apply, and they can be both Indian and foreign students. If students have any backlogs or any pending subjects, they can still apply, but they need to show the proof that they have cleared them before the time of admission. 

The application fees for female students or any candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PwD category are INR 1000 for one test paper and INR 1350 for two test papers. For all the other categories, such as General, OBC, and others, the fees are INR 2000 for one test paper and INR 2700 for two test papers.

How to Apply for IIT JAM 2026?

Given below are some of the key points that students can follow while applying for the IIT JAM 2025.

Step 1: Students can visit the official website of IIT JAM for the registration process https://jam2026.iitb.ac.in/

Step 2: Students need to register with their phone number and Email ID.

Step 3: After registering, fill in the personal and academic details and choose the test paper, which can be selected up to two.

Step 4: Candidates need to upload all the required documents and then pay the application fees online.

Step 5: Once students have completed the application form, they need to submit the form and save the confirmation page for further procedure.

What Documents Do You Need?

Given below are some of the important documents that students need to provide while filling out the application form.

• A recent passport-size photo

• Your signature

• Class 10 mark sheet or certificate

• A valid photo ID like Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, voter ID, or driving license

If any of the students belong to the SC, ST, OBC-NCL, or EWS category, then they must upload their category certificate. And, students with any kind of disabilities should upload a valid PwD certificate.

IIT JAM 2026 application fees

The application fees for IIT JAMS 2026 depend on the category. If it's a female student or belongs to the SC, ST, or PwD category, then they need to pay  INR 1000 for one test paper and INR 1350 for two test papers. For all the other candidates, the fees are INR 2000 for one test paper and INR 2700 for two test papers. Students can pay the application fees through the JOAPS Portal by using online methods like Net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.

Important Reminders

The last date to apply for the exam is October 20, 2025, till 11:59 PM. After submitting, students should not forget to download the confirmation page for further procedure. Students will be allowed to make changes like their exam city, category, or gender. Students should also make sure that their documents are clear and properly uploaded so that their form doesn’t get rejected. They also need to apply early to avoid any last-minute issues.
