How to Calculate Marks for the MET 2026?

Candidates can calculate their MET 2026 exam scores by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Count the number of correct answers. Each correct answer awards 4 marks.

Step 2: Count the number of wrong answers (only for MCQs). For each incorrect MCQ, 1 mark is deducted. Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions have no negative marking.

Step 3: Calculate the total marks using the formula:

  • Total Marks=(4Γ—Number of Correct Answers)βˆ’(1Γ—Number of Wrong MCQ Answers)

  • Add the marks from NAT questions (all correct NAT answers get 4 marks each, no penalty for wrong answers).

Step 4: The maximum marks for MET are 240. However, it changes based on the course chosen.

Here is an example of a calculation:

If a candidate answers 50 questions correctly (including NAT), 5 MCQs wrongly, and leaves 5 unanswered:

  • Marks from correct answers = 50Γ—4=200

  • Negative marks for wrong MCQs = 5Γ—1=5

  • Total marks = 200βˆ’5=195

What’s Next After the MET Results 2026?

After the MET exam results 2026 are declared, qualified candidates can participate in the online counseling process through the official portal. The process involves registering with their application number and password, updating their profile, and paying the counseling fee, which is later adjusted with the tuition fee if admission is secured. Candidates must then fill in their course and campus preferences, which are considered during seat allotment based on MET rank, category, and seat availability. MET results for the seat allotment will be published online. Candidates who are allotted a seat must confirm admission by paying the program fee and completing document verification within the given timeline. Furthermore, the officials held multiple rounds of counselling, which allowed candidates to upgrade their choices if needed, and only those who complete all steps, including fee payment and document verification, will secure admission to their chosen Manipal campus.
