The exam test paper consists of three different sections named Part A, Part B, and Part C. All the parts contain objective types, multiple-choice questions from five subjects. Each subject has a distinct number of questions to be attempted in each part, with corresponding marks per correct answer and negative marking policies. All subjects have a total of 200 marks.

For example, the Chemical Sciences require answering 15, 35, and 25 questions in Parts A, B, and C, respectively, with 2, 2, and 4 marks each and 25% negative marking. Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences also follow similar patterns with minor variations in question counts, marks per question, and negative marking percentages. Mathematical Sciences differ slightly by offering no negative marking in Part C.

Just after a few days of CSIR - UGC NET exam, the NTA will release the provisional answer key of the questions on its website. It gives the option to candidates to challenge the provisional answer key if they find a mismatch in the answer with a valid reason. Candidates can challenge the provisional answer key via online mode by paying INR 200 for each challenge question. The NTA will go through all the objected questions and release the final answer key. Based on the final answer key, the CSIR - UGC NET result will be declared. The provisional answer key will be expected to be released in the third week of December 2025.

CSIR UGC NET 2025 Results

The CSIR UGC NET 2025 exam result will be released on the official website. The tentative result date of this exam could be in February 2026. Candidates can download their results by logging in with their user ID and password. The result scorecard contains the subject-wise marks, percentile, and qualifying status. The result determines the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions, and admission to Ph.D. programs.

CSIR UGC NET 2025 Cutoffs

The NTA releases the subject-wise cutoff marks of CSIR UGC NET that reflect the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor, and Ph.D. admission across various science subjects. The cut-offs are released for all categories that appeared in the exam, and subjects, including Chemical Science, Earth Science, Life Science, Mathematical Science, and Physical Science.

The minimum qualifying percentage that was considered for June 2025 was 33% for General, EWS, OBC, and 25% for SC, ST, and PwD categories. The merit list prioritizes successful candidates for JRF, who are then distributed between CSIR and UGC. The cut-off marks consider cumulative marks of all exam parts without separate section-wise cut-offs.
