XLRI Jamshedpur and XLRI Gurgaon have completed the final placements for their 2023–25 batch of PGDM (Business Management) and PGDM (Human Resource Management) students. A total of 591 students took part in the process, and 172 companies participated, making over 600 domestic job offers, including 2 international ones. Impressively, 41 of these companies were new recruiters. Around 34.17% of the students received pre-placement offers, which shows how well they performed during their summer internships. Students from both campuses were actively involved in this placement drive. For the top 10th and 25th percentile’s the median salary package offered is INR 29 LPA, while the average salary package offered ranges between INR 52.03 LPA and INR 44.35 LPA, respectively.
Selection into PGDM (GM) is very competitive and based on the XAT, GMAT or GRE score and a good profile analysis and personal interviews. Being one of the best five management programs in India, it has the exalted credentials of AACSB, AICTE, and AMBA. The curriculum is programmed in such a way that it trains the students to be leaders in most functions of the business, where it is both academically rigorous and pragmatically exposed to live situations with peers.
In case of placements, XLRI also assists in giving full assistance to all eligible students as long as the students provide either a relieving letter or a sabbatical letter from their earlier employer, basically saying that they are free to work and avail such job opportunities.
The top recruiting companies are JP Morgan, Tech Mahindra, NIIT, Wipro, IBM, KPMG, TVS, Axis Bank, Amazon, Dell, Deloitte, L & T, HCL, HSBC, KPMG, DBS Bank, etc, that visit the XLRI Gurgaon campus to offer multiple job opportunities to students.
XLRI is well known for placing students in their preferred jobs in the best companies across the globe. A special placement Committee consisting of a chairperson of placement, members of the faculty and student representatives runs the entire placement activities. This group works tirelessly to ensure there is communication with the already existing recruiters as well as with companies that they have not yet contacted. They aim to see the students acquire the best career prospects.
Summer Internship is one of the most important components of the PGDBM and PGDHRM courses at XLRI. It occurs in the fourth quarter of the first year and entails 8 weeks. Students are able to gain work experience in this period through placements with companies and putting into practice the lecture material they have covered, and gaining exposure to various industries during this period. During the recent internship season, XLRI has ranked the highest number of BM and HRM students vis-à-vis both the Gurgaon and Jamshedpur campuses. It was conducted on an online basis and witnessed the involvement of 139 firms, with major firms, such as Amazon, BCG, Bain, Accenture Strategy, ITC, HUL and P&G. A great number of students were offered pre-placement offers (PPOs) or interviewed (PPIs) based on the performance they showed during the internship. The percentage share of PPO in XLRI was quite high, i.e. 33.4, which is one of the best in the country.
The concluding placement process is at the end of the second year, and it attracts a vast selection of first-class recruiters seeking talented graduates. Even in difficult market conditions, XLRI has been recording 100% placement. In the BM and HRM, 154 companies participated in the online placement exercise of the 2022-24 batch. Popular firms such as Boston Consulting Group, Bain Co., P&G, Amazon, Accenture Strategy, ITC and HUL had positions available in different areas. This is to be seen through the fact that they still continue to work with XLRI students because they are highly trusted in the industry.
The Lateral Recruitment Process at XLRI is designed for students who already have work experience and are aiming for mid-level management roles in companies. Every year, top firms from different sectors like Consulting, Finance, Technology, General Management, and HR take part in this process. It is a detailed and complex procedure, which involves several stages of assessments to select appropriate individuals to fill such positions. The top companies, such as HUL, Colgate-Palmolive, Accenture Strategy, Amazon and Microsoft, also hold case competitions along with last year's students. Such competitions are usually followed by pre-placement interviews (PPIs) or direct job offers (PPOs).
