The Neotia University Overview
The Neotia University is a private, self-financed university in Kolkata. The Neotia University address is Vishwakarma Building, 86C Topsia Road (S), Kolkata. It was established in 2015 and is recognised by the University Grant Commission (UGC). It is the first university of Kolkata to be accredited by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) for the course of BSc Hons Agriculture. The University is established under the West Bengal State University Act of XXIII of 2014 by the initiative of the Ambuja Neotia Group, Kolkata.
The Neotia University is spread over 50 acres of lush green campus, having over 4300 students from India and abroad. The University campus is empowered by a High-speed Wi-fi facility and a Ragging-free campus with over 48 CCTV cameras and 24x7 security. The Neotia University Logo is designed to represent its educational philosophy, featuring a central symbol and the Sanskrit motto “Gyanam Atma Pradipaya”, which means Knowledge illuminates the Soul.
The University has a state-of-the-art swimming pool with a trainer, a 24-hour doctor and medical assistance, a Library, Sports facilities, a separate gymnasium for boys and girls, and separate hostels for over 1100 boys and 550 girls. The Neotia University course admission is based on the entrance exam, the NEO Admission Test, which is the university’s own entrance exam.
Before filling out the online application form, students should verify that they meet the eligibility criteria. For example, for the B.Tech course, candidates must have passed class 12th with a minimum of 55%-60% in PCM/ PCB from a recognised board. The Neotia University Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026
The Neotia University offers courses in various streams, and candidates who want to get admission into these courses must fulfil some of the following eligibility criteria:
To get admission into the BSc (Hons) Agriculture course, one must have passed class 12th with any 2 vocational subjects related to Agriculture or Horticulture with at least 55% marks.
For admission to the B.Tech courses, students must have passed class 12th with at least 55% to 60% marks from any recognised board.
If a candidate wants admission through the Lateral Entry, they should have a 3-year Diploma from an AICTE-approved College, or a UGC-recognised University in India with a minimum range of 50% to 60% marks, followed by a personal interview.
For admission to the BSc Nursing programme, candidates must have passed class 12th with a minimum of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, along with a valid rank in the JENPAS exam.
If a candidate wants to get admitted to the B.Tech Marine Engineering course, students must have passed class 10+2 with at least 60% marks from any recognised board, followed by the qualifying marks in the IMU-CET entrance examination of the current year.
The Neotia University Placement
The Neotia University Placement Cell helps its students through career guidance programs. Its motto is to assist students with proper job-oriented education and to help them succeed in whatever challenges they face. The Neotia University Kolkata has recorded a placement rate of around 89% in the recent placement drives. The highest CTC received is INR 24 LPA, and the campus has more than 10,000 alumni in various top companies across the globe. The B.Tech course, offered by the School of Science and Technology, has recorded a 100% placement rate in the placement process of the last three academic years.
The Neotia University has different placement wings at departmental levels. Each school at the university has a separate placement cell, which organises the placement process and internships for the students of courses offered under these schools.
