Sikkim University Gangtok, is a Central University located in Gangtok, Sikkim, India. It was established in 2007 by an Act of Parliament of India. The University offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across various streams, including Human Sciences, Language & Literature, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Professional Studies and Social Sciences.
The University has been recognised by UGC and accredited by NAAC with a ‘B’ Grade. Moreover, all admissions to courses at this university are conducted through the CUET exam. Candidates applying for admission into any one of these courses provided by the University need to fulfill the eligibility criteria for that particular course. Below is a list of eligibility criteria for some of these courses:
For the Bachelor's courses, the basic eligibility is that candidates must have passed class 12th with a minimum required mark.
If a candidate wants to apply for the MSc Botany course, they should have graduated with an Honors degree with a minimum of 45% marks.
For the M.Com course, students should have passed B.Com Honors or B.Com Hons with Research with at least 50% marks (45% for the reserved category). Additionally, students who have graduated with a B.Com pass degree with 56% marks can also apply for the M.Com course.
Candidates applying for the MA/MSc in Geography should have a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Earth Sciences, or Environmental Science with a minimum of 50% (45% in the reserved category).
For candidates applying for the MA in Buddhist Studies, candidates should have graduated in any discipline with a minimum of 45% marks.
For the MBA course, candidates should be graduates in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for the reserved category). Along with this, students need to appear for the Group Discussion, which will account for 20% and the Personal Interview, which will account for 10% for the final selection.
The University has a Placement Cell cum Career Counseling Cell that aims to provide students with several employment opportunities.
