This policy defines scholarship award eligibility, application procedures, and terms for awarding scholarships as well as ensuring fairness and transparency relative to the award process. As a result of supporting students financially through scholarships; the University reduces the economic burden to a student and a student’s family; thus allowing them to continue their education without financial interruption.
Rai University has a scholarship policy applicable to all students attending the University with an academic degree program including undergraduate; postgraduate; and doctorate degree programs. This Policy includes information on scholarship types and award criteria, as well as scholarship application process guidelines.
The scholarship framework is reviewed and approved by the Board of Management (BOM) and the Finance Committee. After approval, it is presented to the Governing Body for final concurrence. Once approved, the Registrar issues official notifications, which are shared with all departments, faculty members, and students, and published on the university website.
Eligibility for scholarships varies depending on the type of scheme. The criteria are defined annually by the university authorities and communicated through official notifications. Common eligibility factors include:
Academic performance in previous examinations
Financial condition of the student’s family
Achievements in sports, arts, or extracurricular activities
Leadership qualities and community involvement
Students must:

In certain cases, recommendations from competent authorities may be considered for financially disadvantaged students. Depending on the committee, carefully review all scholarship applications with utmost care and attention. The scholarship committee may request additional documents if required.
Rai University has various forms of scholarship programs that are available based on merit, needs and other specific achievements of the applicant. Scholarships are primarily applied towards tuition costs but can be continued for multiple years provided that each student is in good standing academically, and maintains discipline throughout the duration of his/her scholarship.
The Early Bird Scholarship is designed to encourage prospective students to complete their admission process at an early stage. It is awarded to candidates who apply and submit their fees before the prescribed deadlines. This scholarship follows a first-come, first-served basis and is applicable to all programs offered by the university. The amount of financial assistance generally ranges from 5% to 100% of the tuition fee, depending on the candidate’s previous academic performance.
The Merit-Based Scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance or excellence in co-curricular activities such as sports, arts or leadership. To be eligible for merit based scholarship, students are generally required to secure a minimum of 75% of marks in their previous qualifying examination. This scholarship is completely performance-driven and does not consider financial background. The tuition fee waiver may range from 5% to 100%, depending on the level of achievement and overall merit of the applicant.
The purpose of awarding Need-Based Scholarships is to help those students who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Eligible applicants must not have a family income greater than INR 5 lakh per year and must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in their last qualifying examination. The goal of Need-Based Scholarships is to remove financial obstacles that would otherwise prevent qualified students from achieving their full potential in higher education. The financial assistance provided ranges from 5% to 100% of the tuition fee, depending on both academic performance and financial need.
The Employee Ward Scholarship is available to university staff's children who can apply for this award based upon their reason for being eligible. The purpose of this program is to further assist the university’s commitment to its workers and provide an avenue for them and their families to achieve their educational goals.
The goal of the scholarship is to reduce the number of families who have a difficult time paying for higher education and encourage staff members of the university to send their children to this same institution. To date, eligible applicants can receive as much as 50% off of their tuition. The actual amount of the award depends on the applicant's academic performance.
Special Category Scholarships are introduced to recognize and promote diversity, talent and leadership among students. These scholarships are offered to students who fall under specific categories such as female candidates in underrepresented programs, individuals with notable achievements in cultural or artistic activities and those who demonstrate strong leadership qualities in student organizations or community service. The financial support under this category can go up to 50% of the tuition fee and is awarded based on both merit and relevant achievements.
The Alumni Scholarship is available to students who have previously completed a program at the university and wish to pursue further studies within the same institution. For instance, a student who has completed a bachelor’s degree and seeks admission to a postgraduate program can benefit from this scheme. This scholarship provides a 25% waiver on the first-year tuition fee, thereby encouraging continuity in education and strengthening the alumni network of the university.
Rai University offers assistance to students applying for government scholarships in addition to institutional scholarships. The scholarships are divided into the following categories:
Freeship Card Scholarship: Full fee support for SC/ST students admitted through official quotas
Digital Gujarat Scholarship: Financial aid for SC, ST and OBC students through the state portal
Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY): For economically weaker students pursuing higher education

Application Submission:
Students applying for scholarships must follow these steps:
The scholarship applicant must complete the scholarship application form that is available on the University website.
The applicant must also submit certain required documents, for example,
academic transcripts,
income certificates and
any award or other certificate received (if applicable).
The completed application must be submitted to the University no later than the specified deadline
Review and Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.
The committee's decision will be based on eligibility requirements and merit and the amount of funds available.
Eligible applicants who are selected for an award will receive written notification regarding their award from the Scholarship Committee Chairperson.
Scholarships will be renewable for successive years if the recipient meets all of the following requirements:
Maintains an acceptable grade point average;
Attends classes regularly; and
Follows the rules and maintains discipline as established by the university.
If the recipient violates any university policies or experiences poor academic performance, their scholarship could be suspended.
