Pandit Deendayal Energy University provides a number of different scholarships and financial aid to students. The scholarships provided by the university are merit scholarships that are based on the basis of academic performance and merit cum scholarships, which also provide financial support to the deserving candidates.
The university also offers special category merit scholarships to students of certain groups, like SC and ST, or female applicants. There are also full tuition fee waiver scholarships for the top-ranking students in some of the programs. For the postgraduate students, financial assistance is also provided by the university under some courses, such as M.Sc. and M.Tech students, where students receive stipends, particularly those who have successfully passed examinations such as GATE.
The university also provides in-house scholarships to the continuing students, which can be in the form of a waiver on the tuition fees and hostel fees. Besides financial assistance, students who have exceptional achievements receive appreciation and recognition awards.
The university offers scholarships across programs like B.Tech, Diploma to Degree, M.Tech, MBA, Integrated M.Sc., M.Sc., BBA/B.Com/BA, MA/M.Com, and Ph.D. These include merit-based, merit-cum-means, special category scholarships, fee waivers, stipends, research and teaching assistantships, and Defence/CAPF support.
Under the B.Tech program, the university offers different types of scholarships such as merit-based scholarships, merit-cum-means scholarships, and special merit scholarships. It also provides support for certain categories of students, including children of Defence or CAPF personnel, as well as students who are children of widows, divorcees, orphaned, or have physically handicapped parents, where they can get up to half tuition fee waiver.
For the B.Tech program, a merit-based scholarship offering a full tuition fee waiver from the first semester is provided. Students who secure admission within specified JEE Main rank ranges, or ACPC merit bands for different programs, are eligible to receive this complete tuition fee waiver. Also, the ranks differ for SC, ST and Female Categories. Candidates can check the ranks and further details on the official website of PDEU.
To continue with the scholarship, General category and Female categories students must score at least SPI 8 in the first semester and 8.5 in the following semesters, whereas for the reserved categories candidates need to score SPI 7 in the first semester and 7.5 in subsequent semesters pass all exams on the first attempt, and maintain good attendance, discipline and conduct as per university rules.

Under the Diploma to Degree programme, the university offers merit scholarships with a full tuition fee waiver starting from the third semester, merit-cum-means scholarships with a half tuition fee waiver from the third semester, and special merit scholarships for eligible students.
To maintain the scholarship for the further semesters, students should maintain a minimum of 6.5 CPI in the semester's exams and fulfil other specified criteria such as regular attendance, exemplary behaviour and discipline accordingly.

Criteria: Top merit students as per the data provided by ACPC at the time of admission in the respective B.Tech program.
The university also has a financial support system for M.Tech students as part of its own funds. Students with a valid GATE mark and admitted in Phase-I are provided with a stipend of INR 12,400 per month. Phase-II students under the non-GATE category are allowed to be given INR 8,000 per month only in case there are no GATE seats left, and these students fulfil the necessary merit requirement with a minimum mark of 50%. The scholarships are limited to approximately 9 scholarships of programs with 18 seats and 18 scholarships of programs with 36 seats.
Students must maintain at least 6.5 CPI every semester and pass all exams on the first attempt with good attendance and behaviour.
A candidate should not receive any other scholarship, stipend, or financial support from any other source during the course.
No scholarship will be given to the candidate who passes the GATE examination after securing admission in the university.
The scholarship is given monthly and will continue only if the student performs well and follows university rules.
Students must not leave the course midway; otherwise, they will have to return the scholarship amount received.
The university offers Merit and Merit-cum-Means scholarships for MBA students, which provide a 50% tuition fee waiver. A maximum of 5 such scholarships are available for students in the School of Management. To be eligible, the student’s family income should not be more than INR 10 lakh per year, and they must have scored at least 85 percentile in CAT, XAT, or NMAT. If selected, the scholarship can continue for both years of the MBA program.A special certificate of appreciation will be given to All India Rank holders at the time of the induction programme.
The university also provides a full tuition fee scholarship to the top two students in any course, such as Physics, Chemistry and Data Science. The choice is also based on merit with 75% marks based on theory marks and 25% of the marks which is based on the personal interview. In order to be eligible, the students will require a minimum score of 85% in the Class 12 board exams and the scholarship would be awarded only after the marks are submitted. In order to carry on with the scholarship in subsequent semesters, the students are required to have at least a CPI of 7.5, pass all examinations in the first attempt, and to maintain proper attendance, discipline and rules of the university.
For the M.Sc. programme in Physics and Chemistry, the university offers a research-based assistantship of INR 25,000 per semester. To receive this, students must maintain a CPI of 6.5 or above in every semester without any backlogs, meet the required attendance criteria, and maintain good discipline with no misconduct. If any of these conditions are not met, the assistantship will be discontinued.
The university offers several scholarships for students. The scholarships are Merit-cum-means and merit scholarships with a total of 20 each, providing a half tuition fee waiver based on admission merit and at least 80% in Class 12, with an income limit of INR 10 lakh for merit-cum-means. However, a sports scholarship is also offered by the university with up to 40% of tuition fee waiver, with participation in at least 3 national and international competitions. Students must maintain good academic performance without backlogs or disciplinary issues to continue. Special scholarships are available for children of Defence/CAPF personnel with a 50–100% fee waiver based on eligibility.
The university offers an in-house scholarship scheme for graduate students from PDEU, as well as a merit-cum-means scholarship scheme for graduates coming from other institutions, which are as follows:
The university provides in-house PDEU graduates and merit-cum-means scholarships to the master's students. In the case of the in-house scholarship, students should have a minimum 7.0 CPI of graduation and should have a good performance in the interview in order to be eligible during the first semester. In the second semester, a candidate is also required to have a minimum of 7.0 SPI, take all exams on the first attempt, and maintain discipline and attendance throughout the academic year. Students should also work as a teaching assistant for 10 hours per week.
In the case of meritcum scholarships, family income must not be more than INR 10 lakh. It is selective based on graduation and entrance exam marks, with a minimum of 65% being the overall requirement. The student is required to keep a 7.0 SPI during each semester, not to have backlogs, and to follow the university regulations to be able to keep the scholarship.
The university offers financial support to PhD students based on merit. Students can receive a research scholarship of INR 25,000 per month for the first two years and INR 30,000 per month in the third year. This support continues based on good academic progress, discipline, and regular reviews, but not beyond the fourth year or thesis submission. Students must also work as teaching assistants. Eligibility requires valid scores like GATE, NET, SLET, or CAT (for management). A limited number of scholarships are available in each department. Students who do not receive this can get a teaching assistantship of INR 10,000 per month or a sustenance allowance of INR 6,000 per month.
The university offers special scholarships for Defence and CAPF families. Students can apply under both the normal and Defence/CAPF categories without any change in admission criteria. Children of Gallantry Award winners or soldiers who lost their lives in service are eligible for a 100% tuition fee waiver. A 50% fee waiver is given to children of war-injured or disabled soldiers, those from families with an annual income below INR 8 lakh, and also to Defence or CAPF personnel taking admission themselves, subject to valid documents.
The teaching assistantship (T.A. ship) can continue for up to 3 years based on the student’s performance and regular semester reviews. Students may also receive an incentive of INR 2,000 for each research paper published in approved journals. The continuation of this support depends on six-monthly academic reviews, discipline, and punctuality. In addition, students can get a contingency allowance of up to INR 10,000 per year. No other financial assistance will be provided along with this.
