NIT Patna, which was established in 1886 as the Pleaders Survey Training School, is recognised as one of Indiaās oldest engineering institutes. After being elevated to Bihar College of Engineering in 1924, it was later called the National Institute of Technology Patna on January 28, 2004, as the 18th NIT under the Ministry of Education.
