NIT Patna Overview
NIT Patna, which was established in 1886 as the Pleaders Survey Training School, is recognised as one of Indiaās oldest engineering institutes. After being elevated to Bihar College of Engineering in 1924, it was later called the National Institute of Technology Patna on January 28, 2004, as the 18th NIT under the Ministry of Education. In 2024, NIT Patna NIRF ranking was ranked 55th in the āengineeringā category, which demonstrates its focus on academic achievements.
Being located on the south side of the holy River Ganges, opposite the traditional Gandhi Ghat in Patna, the campus combines old architectural traditions with beautiful surroundings. The Ministry of Education has awarded the institute the status of an Institute of National Importance and full autonomy. NIT Patna has gained the title of a Centre of Excellence and offers advanced learning and research in science, engineering, technology and the humanities. The institute helps students graduate as Chartered Engineers with program options at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels across Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. Furthermore, strong departments in Physics, Mathematics and Humanities and Social Sciences aid the course structure.

NIT Patna Admission

NIT Patna Eligibility Criteria 2025
