National Institute of Fashion Technology Gandhinagar was first established in 1995 as a temporary building at Sector 26, Gandhinagar. Later on, the campus was shifted permanently to Infocity, which became operational in February 2004. NIFT Gandhinagar ranking has been 14th and 6th in the Fashion Design category in IIRF and India Today in 2024, respectively.

For admission to the B.Des course, candidates must have passed Class 12th from a recognised board. Or they should have a pass grade in the Senior Secondary School conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
For B.F.Tech course, candidates should have passed Class 12th from a recognised board with a core subject, Mathematics. Or students should have a 3 or 4-year diploma in any branch of Engineering, which is recognised by AICTE.
Candidates applying for the Master of Fashion Management & M.Des course should have graduated in any stream from a recognised university, or they should have a diploma of minimum three years from NIFT/NID.
For the Master of Fashion Technology, students should have graduated with a B.FTech from NIFT, or they should have a degree in B.E./B.Tech from a recognised university in India.
