National Institute of Fashion Technology NIFT Chennai is a premier institute for fashion education, which was established in 1995 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Later in 2006 National Institute of Fashion Technology was made a statutory body by an Act of the Indian Parliament with the President of India as āVisitorā.

National Institute of Fashion Technology Chennai admission 2025 will open soon. NIFT Chennai conducts the NIFT Entrance Test, consisting of General Ability Test (GAT) or Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission in the Undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses like B.Des (Fashion Design), B.Des (Accessory Design), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production), Master of Fashion Management and more. Along with that, candidates also need to complete the eligibility criteria of the University.

NIFT Chennai eligibility criteria for the Undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses vary based on the programs:
Candidates need to complete their 10+2 from a recognised board for Undergraduate Programs.
For admission in the Postgraduate program of NIFT, a bachelorās degree from a recognised and approved University or educational institution is required with a minimum qualifying mark.
Applicants need to score the minimum required marks in the entrance exams, like GAT or CAT, for admission to any course.
The maximum age of the candidates enrolling in NIFT must be less than 24 years (a 5-year concession will be provided to the Reserved category).
Candidates having a diploma of 3 or 4 years are also eligible to apply. Artisans/wards of artisans can also take admission in NIFT through the Artisan Card issued.
NIFT Chennai organises placement drives for the eligible candidates in the final year of the program. The University invites the top multinational companies to campus for conducting placement drives. Apart from this, the companies at the National Institute of Fashion Technology also offer preplacement offers to the enrolled students based on their performance during internships, training sessions, or projects completed at the company.
Upon completion of campus placement, the institute also helps the graduates to secure a good position in a multinational company by conducting off-campus placement drives. The average salary package of the NIFT Chennai has reached 3 Lakhs Per Annum.

āSarthakā NIFT Financial Assistance: NIFT Chennai provides the Sarthak NIFT Financial Assistance Scholarship scheme to regular students. The objective of NIFT in providing this scholarship scheme is to ensure that students with financial problems or who belong to economically weaker sections of society can also study at NIFT easily.
āUdaanā NIFT Scholarship scheme for Foreign studies: Regular students belonging to the economically weaker section of society and fulfilling the requirements of the Sarthak NIFT Financial Assistance Scheme are also eligible for the Udaan NIFT Scholarship scheme for foreign studies.
National Scholarship: Apart from the above scholarship schemes, students of NIFT Chennai can also apply for the National Scholarship scheme of the Government of India on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
