Maharashtra National Law University or MNLU Mumbai, situated in the metropolitan city of Mumbai in Maharashtra. It was established in 2014 by the MH Government under the Maharashtra National Law University Act 2014. The university is recognised by UGC and is approved by BCI. The University has ranked 31st under the Law category by NIRF 2024 Rankings.
MNLU Mumbai has a diverse range of courses, such as BA LLB, LLM, MBA, MA, etc., to offer at the UG (Integrated), PG, and PhD levels in Law and Management. The university also has PG Diploma and Certificate courses in its curriculum. The selection is done through the merit, university-level, state-level, and national-level entrance exams, which include PAT, MHCET, CLAT, CAT, XAT, CMAT, NET, SET, JRF, etc.

The university accepts admission in various Law and Management courses, such as BA LLB, MA, MBA, LLM, PG Diploma, Certificate, and PhD courses. Admission to these courses is based on merit or marks secured by the candidates in the entrance exam. In addition to this, candidates applying for a PhD will go through a written test and a personal Interview.
The basic eligibility criteria for the UG course admission are Class 12, along with a valid CLAT-UG score. For PG courses, a Bachelor’s degree is a must, with a valid entrance score of either of the exams CAT, XAT, CMAT, MHCET, CLAT-PG. For the PhD course, the university conducts an entrance test, the PAT (PhD Registration Admission Test).
Admissions for various courses such as BALLB, LLM, and MBA are going on. Candidates who have a valid score on the mentioned exams can apply before 31 July 2025. The application form can be found on the university’s official website.
NOTE: Candidates who are appearing for their qualifying examinations are also eligible for admission. Certificates of recently qualified exams will be required to be submitted at the time of admission.

MNLU Mumbai provides several courses, including BA LLB, MA, LLM, LLM (Executive), MBA, PhD, etc. PG Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights, PG Diploma in GST, etc. Admission to this university is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The university has set some admission eligibility standards that applicants are required to meet. Candidates will be accepted only if they fulfill the required eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for some of the major courses are given below:
BA LLB: Secured 45% marks in Class 12 (40% required for reserved category), along with a valid score in CLAT-UG.
LLM: LLB degree or equivalent Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% (45% for reserved candidates) and a valid CLAT-PG score.
MBA: A minimum of 55% marks is required for MBA admission and a valid score of CLAT(PG)/ CMAT/ XAT/ CAT/ MHCET.
PhD: The candidate must hold an LLB/ LLM, or an equivalent Master’s degree with at least 55% and a valid score of NET/ SET/ JRF or PAT (PhD Registration Admission Test). Shortlisting will be based on the written test and a personal Interview.
NOTE: The eligibility criteria for UG and PG Law courses are as per the CLAT regulations.
The university gives its students various career opportunities through its paid/ unpaid internships, PPOs, and placement drives.
The university boasts an overall good placement record, thanks to its collaborations with globally recognized companies such as Cipla, TATA Advanced Ltd., Clifford, and Clove Legal, among others. The university has a dedicated placement cell that actively works as a mediator between top companies and the university. The cell also gives career-oriented training to its students.
In the 2023 placement drive of the BA LLB batch, 54 students registered for prospective jobs, out of which 30 students were placed in top companies, such as Khaitan and Co., Isaac and Jacob, ANB Partners, K Law, and Adani.
MNLU, Mumbai offers several scholarships to its deserving students with the cooperation of the State government, the Central Government, and other NGOs.
Candidates who have a Maharashtra domicile can avail 25% tuition fee concession.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories can apply for various scholarships under the Department of Social Justice & Assistance.
Candidates holding residency in Madhya Pradesh are eligible to apply for scholarships under the Medhavi Yojna scheme by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Students who are residents of Rajasthan can benefit from the Mukhya Mantri Sarvajan Uchha Shiksha Chhatravriti Yojana.
Several scholarships are provided at the national level on this portal. All candidates can apply for the various available schemes.
This scholarship is given to SC candidates who perform exceptionally well academically.
