The placement cell of Madras School of Economics is renowned for its placement records. MSE works to make students employable in this global economy and to make them ready with all the necessary skills. They also provide internships to their students with the PGDM batch of 2023-25, having a 100% internship rate. 

The pre-placement activities include leadership talks and alumni interaction. It gives students an opportunity to network with various experienced people and gain some exposure to different sectors and industries. 

The recruitment process of the placement cell begins with organising pre-placement talks and campus engagements by inviting experts and scheduling the events. Next, they open the registrations for the students and collect the CVs. Then the initial screening happens by group discussions or aptitude tests. The shortlisted students go to the interview round for a second round of screening. The students, after qualifying all these rounds, get final offers. 

The PGDM batch of 2022-24 had a good placement season with over 80% of the batch getting placed. There are around 37.6% of the males in the batch of PGDM and 62.4 % females. The batch size is 205.  The highest CTC went up to 23.14 LPA, and the average CTC was 11.14 LPA. The lowest CTC for the batch is INR 7 LPA.

The  MA batch of 2024 achieved 81% placement.  A total of 50 companies visited the campus of MSE and hired students from a pool of 120 students. The average package students received was  INR 12.24 LPA, and the lowest package was for INR 7 LPA. The highest package that students were offered was INR 23.14 LPA. The top recruiters who hired from MSE were American Express, Bank of America, Barclays, Wells Fargo, Standard Chartered, Accenture, CITI, Ford Motors, Gartner, EY, and PwC and many more.
