JIS University was established through the JIS University Act, 2014, but it came into existence in February 2015. The JIS University full form is Jodh Ishwar Singh, and it is named after the founders of JIS Group. The University is recognised by the UGC and approved by AICTE, BCI, PCI, NCTE, SIRO, DHSE, and UNAI. It has been a proud member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) since 2017.

JIS University Admission Overview 2026
JIS University Kolkata courses include B.Tech, BCA, B.Pharm, B.Pharm (Lateral), B.Sc, M.Tech, M.Pharm, M.Sc, Integrated M.Sc-PhD, D.Pharm, and more. JIS University Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026
Students who want to pursue or get admission into JIS University courses should make sure that they fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
For B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture admission, students should have passed Class 12th with at least 60% marks in PCM/PCB/PCMB/Agriculture.
To be eligible for B.Ed admission, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Social Science, or Humanities with a minimum of 50% marks.
Candidates applying for the B.Tech should have completed Class 12th with a minimum of 60% marks in the science stream through WBJEE or JET. Students who are getting selected from the WBJEE exam for the B.Tech course must have 45% marks in PCM in the State board or its equivalent.
Those who want to apply for a BA, BBA, or BA in International Hospitality & Tourism Management should have passed Class 12th in any stream.
Candidates applying for a BSc (Hospitality & Hotel Administration) should have passed Class 12th in any discipline. Along with this, they need to appear and qualify for the JET exam.
For courses such as an MBA in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, students should be graduates in any stream.
