Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad emphasises experiential learning by means of a strictly organised internship program. In the 2024-25 academic year, 391 students were placed in internships, and more than 91 companies visited the campus to recruit interns. Among them, over 200 students were offered before the placement, which proves once again the effectiveness of the internship pipeline.
The internship period varies with degree programs eight weeks in case of B.Tech students and a maximum of six months in case of Integrated M.Tech students. Internships provide practical experience in various fields like Mining, Energy, Information Technology, Finance, Engineering Design, Machine Learning and Data Analytics.
