The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is mainly for students who want to acquire business and management skills in a practical manner. IIM Tiruchirappalli PGPBM Course Details
The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPBM) is mainly the course for working executives who want to acquire business and management skills in a practical manner. Among the various courses, the program makes the students familiar with the core areas of management, the students get leadership and analytical skills and also, by way of projects, internships, and workshops, they get hands- on experience.
The PGPBM classes are conducted at Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) in this course so as to meet the professional commitments of the working professionals. In the first year, classes are held every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays from timing schedules: 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM. In the second year, depending on elective choices, sessions can also be scheduled in the mornings on weekends. Students with Saturday morning work commitments has the option to select the electives that are scheduled in the afternoon and evening (1:30 PM – 9:00 PM) timelines.
Note: PGPBM course program at IIM Tiruchirappalli is specifically designed for working executives, hence there will be no formal placement support by the institute for the students enrolled in this programme.
In 1st Year-

IIM Tiruchirappalli Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD)
The Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM) is a specialised course for students focused to carry out higher level studies in management. It not only trains students through essential research methods but also guides them on how to perform innovation in management. This research program provides students with the skills needed for careers in teaching, research, or a combo of both, along with other professional roles.
The curriculum of DPM at Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli is designed in such a way as to give students the necessary training to excel in academic work and be productive contributors for management-related research. Students are allowed to take up a specialisation in any one of the different areas of management. Every student in the DPM program is provided with full financial support for a maximum period of four years during the course of their studies.
Duration: 4-5 years full-time research
Eligibility: To be eligible for the Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM), candidates should possess any one of the following:
A Master's degree in any subject with not less than 60% of the marks or an equivalent grade point.
A 2-year Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent.
Just like CA, ICWA, or CS, professional qualifications with not less than 50% marks.
Any subject with a minimum of 60% marks in a 5-year integrated Master's degree.
A first class Bachelor's degree (4 years / 8 semesters) passed.
Some Important Points:
Besides, the students should not have less than 60% of the marks in Class 10 and Class 12.
SC, ST, and PwD category candidates are given 5% relaxation in marks.

Industry Project:
Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli students are required to do a summer research project during the timeline of their respective doctoral studies.
In addition to the classroom courses, each student prepares a ‘Research Paper’ during the two-month summer break between his 1st Year & 2nd Year and continues to work on the paper during the second year. Each student works with a designated research guide for this component of the coursework.
Comprehensive Qualifying Examination (CQE): To advance further on their research journeys, students are required to clear their CQEs conducted by their respective areas of specialization.
The CQE has three components –
A written exam,
Viva voce,
An examination of the status of the 'Research Paper'.
Waiver
Students who hold a PGDM from any IIM or a PGPBM will be exempt from the PGPM courses offered in year one, provided the student has a CGPA of 2.55/4.33 or equivalent and has obtained the diploma within 5 years from the year of admission to the DPM program.
Other students who have an MBA/equivalent from other institutes/universities may apply for course-wise waivers for PGPM Courses. They will be given waivers subject to successfully clearing an examination and viva to be conducted by the respective course instructor(s). Those who have got course waivers in basic courses have the option to start the DPM at Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli with advanced courses.
Note- All students have to undergo the DPM level courses that will be offered in Year 1.
IIM Tiruchirappalli Executive Doctoral Programme in Management (E. PhD)
The Executive Doctoral Programme in Management (EDPM) is a specialised course for working professionals focused to carry out higher level studies in management. It not only helps them through essential research methods but also guides them on how to perform innovation in management. This research program provides students with the skills needed for careers along with other professional roles.
The curriculum is designed in such a way as to give students the necessary training to excel in academic work and be productive contributors for management-related research. Students are allowed to pick a specialisation in any one of the different areas of management. Every student in the EDPM program at Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli is expected to pay a total course fee amount of INR 15,00,000 during the course of their studies.
Duration: 2 years of Course work - 6 terms of 3 months each
1 physical visit to the campus per term (each visit will be of one week in duration)
70% of content is covered in offline mode here, while 30% of these remaining coursework will be covered in the online mode by the management institute
Comprehensive qualifying examination (CQE) is needed to be attempted by the students during their course duration
Submission and presentation of the research proposal by the students
Final submission and presentation of dissertation by the student
