This is a full-time residential course designed to develop agribusiness leaders, entrepreneurs with vision, competence and appropriate attitude for promoting agro-based enterprises with a strong international orientation.

The curriculum is designed to impart knowledge and skills considered essential for managers to operate successfully in the increasingly dynamic and complex environment. It sharpens and deepens the student's understanding at different levels. The programme is affiliated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

The course provides the students with the necessary skills to become professionally competent managers. It trains them to manage business issues both at home and abroad, to seek the highest standards while adhering to strong ethical principles, and to be able to work effectively both individually and in teams. IIM Lucknow PhD Course Details

Indian Institute of Management Lucknow provides a Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM). This programme was launched in 2000-2001 and is designed to produce high-quality academicians, researchers, and management thinkers by providing an opportunity for interdisciplinary education and research in management.

It not only trains students in essential research methods but also guides them on how to generate new knowledge in management. The program provides students with the skills needed for careers in teaching, research, or a combination of the two, along with other professional roles.

Duration: 4 to 5 Years
Eligibility:
Candidates having a Master's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST Candidates). OR
Candidates having a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / four-year graduate degree with 75% marks (70% for SC/ST candidates). OR
Any professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA and CS with a minimum 55% aggregate marks and a B.Com. as an undergraduate degree. OR
Applicants already holding a two or three full-time classroom-based PGDM from any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6 on 10 10-point scale or 60% marks. OR
Candidates with PGP-WE of the IIM Lucknow with a minimum 6 CGPA.

Some Important Points:

All applicants must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in all their public exams from class 10th onwards.
SC, ST, and PwD category candidates are given 5% relaxation in marks.

IIM Lucknow DPM-PhD Programme Structure

During the first year of the programme, the scholars, irrespective of their area of specialisation, undergo a compulsory set of courses along with a summer placement or summer research assignment under the guidance of their supervisor.

In the second year, scholars deepen their knowledge in their specialisation and related fields while also taking compulsory courses to build teaching, research, and integrated learning skills. Scholars select a dissertation topic, which later forms the basis of their thesis proposal.

Summer Internships

After the completion of the first year of coursework, scholars have to undergo a two-month summer internship, which consists of either a guided summer research project at the campus under an academic advisor or an external internship relevant to the research field, if necessary, in consultation with the research guide.

Dissertation

Scholars will have to do a mandatory Dissertation (2 Credits). The Dissertation Advisor of the scholar, in consultation with the DPM Office, will schedule the dissertation presentation. The coursework will end with the common comprehensive exam. The scholar will follow the thesis work model as suggested for regular scholars after the completion of the coursework.

Comprehensive Examination

On completion of the second year coursework, which includes dissertation work, the scholars take the comprehensive examination. The comprehensive examination at the end of the 2nd year tests whether the scholar has obtained a satisfactory level of knowledge in their field of specialisation and whether the scholar has satisfactorily integrated the various courses.

Thesis Proposal

After passing the comprehensive examination, the candidate has to go through the thesis writing stage. The candidate first develops a thesis proposal, for which they identify a research topic, identify the members of the Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) through a seminar on the thesis proposal to the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) academic community, and get the thesis proposal approved by the Committee.

Thesis Submission and Defence

On approval of the thesis proposal, the candidate works closely with the TAC on their research topic. On completion of the thesis work, the candidate submits the thesis and defends their thesis work. Scholars have to defend their thesis work while submitting of thesis in front of the committee.
