IIIT Pune admission is based on the entrance exam score of the relevant course level, along with the academic scores in the previous qualification. The applications for admission to the IIIT Pune are currently closed for most of the courses. Students applying for the undergraduate level course (B.Tech) are required to pass the JEE(Main) entrance examination to be eligible for admission at IIIT Pune.
For admission to the M.Tech program, a valid GATE test results are required. However, applicants can also register under the Non-GATE admission directly to the institute through the official portal before 5 June 2025. For PhD courses, candidates are required to qualify for the respective entrance examination, such as GATE, NET, as per the research area.
The minimum qualification required for the UG course is 75% (645% for the SC and ST category) in Class 12 with PCM as a mandatory subject from a recognised board. For the PG courses, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% in a relevant subject from a recognised university or institute. Similarly, for the PhD courses, candidates are required to hold a minimum passing score 60% in a master’s degree with relevant subjects.

IIIT Pune admission eligibility criteria for the academic session 2025-26 depend on the course level and the specialisation. Admissions to IIIT Pune are done on the basis of entrance exam scores, followed by counselling or an interview.
For the IIIT Pune B.Tech admission, a minimum score of 75% in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as key subjects is required for the general and OBC category applicants. Whereas, students who belong to SC, ST and PwD categories are required to hold a minimum qualifying score of 65%. Passing the JEE(Main) entrance examination is a compulsory requirement to secure B.Tech admission at IIIT Pune.
For the M.Tech admission at IIIT Pune, the students are required to hold a qualifying score of 55% to 60% in a bachelor’s degree with relevant subjects. Students are also required to pass the GATE examination.
However, applicants can also register at the institute portal as Non-GATE applicants; the Non-GATE applicants must appear for the IIIT Pune entrance examination, which includes a written test and interview.
