Indian Institute of Information Technology, popularly known as IIIT Dharwad, is a government Engineering and Technology institute located in Dharwad, Karnataka, established in 2015. It is a Public-Private institute, and was conferred the status of an Institute of National Importance by the Act of Parliament 2017.

IIIT Dharwad Admission 2025
IIIT Dharwad offers BTech, MTech, MTech by Research and PhD courses in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, CSE, and ECE. Admissions are conducted based on merit and national-level entrance exam scores. Admission to UG courses is done through JoSAA and CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board). The basic eligibility criteria required for BTech is Class 12 with a minimum of 75% in PCM (65% for reserved category candidates), and a valid JEE Main score. JEE Main exam has already been conducted, and JoSAA counselling is scheduled to start in June 2025 (tentative).
Admissions for MTech (R) and PhD are conducted throughout the year; interested and eligible candidates can apply on the official website, deadline is not specified for the MTech (R) and PhD admissions.
IIIT Dharwad has started offering MTech in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in online mode with choices to re-enter and re-exit. The basic eligibility criteria for MTech, a candidate must have a BE, BTech, MSc or MCA degree with a minimum of 60% or 6 CGPA. Students with a valid GATE score are exempted from the Online Aptitude Test and can directly appear for the interview. The batch will start from 25 May 2025.

IIIT Dharwad Admission Eligibility Criteria 2025
IIIT Dharwad is a newly set up IIIT in India that offers BTech, MTech, MTech (R) and PhD in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, CSE, ECE, Science, Arts and Design specialisations.
The entry-level requirement for BTech is Class 12. An applicant is required to have passed Class 12 PCM with a minimum of 75% aggregate (65% for reserved candidates) from a recognised board. Students having a valid JEE Main score can only participate in the counselling round.
MTech requires a BE, BTech, MSc, and MCA degree with a minimum of 60% or 6 CGPA. GATE-qualified candidates are exempted from the Online Aptitude test and can directly appear for the interview.
MTech (R) requires a BE/ BTech with a minimum of 60% or 6 CGPA.
A PhD requires an MTech, ME, MS, or equivalent Master’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 65% aggregate or 7 CGPA. Candidates having an exceptional academic background with a BE/ BTech and research experience will be considered for PhD admissions followed by a written test and interview.
NOTE: A 5% concession in eligibility criteria is given to reserved category candidates.

IIIT Dharwad Scholarships 2025
IIIT Dharwad does not provide any exclusive scholarships to its students; however, it does provide the Institute Fellowship to its full-time MTech (R) and PhD candidates, and financial support is subject to the availability of the grant. Students who want to pursue higher studies at this institute can avail the financial aid under the GoI initiative of the PM Vidyalaxami Scheme. Under this scheme, students pursuing higher education can get a collateral-free and a guarantor-free education loan.
