IFMR was established in 1970 as a not-for-profit society and is located in Sri City, Chennai. IFMR Society is an umbrella organisation that houses several sub-entities, including IFMR LEAD, J-PAL South Asia, IWWAGE, etc. The IFMR Society is recognised by the Government of India (Ministry of Finance, under the IT Act). Institute for Financial Management and Research has been accredited by SAQS. IFMR Society is Asia’s 1st Finance training and Research Institution.
IFMR Chennai offers MBA, Integrated BBA+MBA, and PhD programs (Madras University). Under the Executive Education, IFMR-GSB offers Advanced Management Program, Customised & Curated Management Development Program, Certificate Courses, and the EMBA. The duration of the program offered at IFMR-GSB Chennai ranges from 2 to 5 years.
The campus of IFMR-GBS has a library that holds over 30,000 books on various aspects of Management, Social Sciences, Literature, and more. IFMR Chennai provides courses such as MBA, Executive MBA, Integrated BBA+MBA, PhD Program, and Krea PhD-IFMR GSB. It also provides an advanced management program, certificate courses, an EMBA program, and a customised management development program. Application for the MBA program at IFMR-GSB will start from 3 October 2025, and the application deadline is 15 November 2025. Candidates can also apply for the Integrated BBA+MBA program, and the application deadline is 31 December 2025. IFMR Graduate School of Business offers a two-year Master's in Business Administration (MBA) under the aegis of Krea University. The tuition fee for the MBA program is INR 15,00,000. Candidates who want to apply for the courses offered by the Institute should fulfil the eligibility criteria given below:
For the MBA course, candidates should have scored a minimum of 60% in class 10th, 12th, and in their Graduation. Additionally, both freshers and candidates with work experience are eligible for this course.
However, candidates who have graduated and achieved a University rank are exempt from needing a competitive exam score for admission into the MBA course.
Candidates applying for the Executive MBA program for L&T Construction should be a graduate with 3 years of work experience. They should be between the ages of 24 and 35 and also be rated as Top Performers or Outstanding Performers in the FAIR process.
Students applying for the Integrated MBA program should have scored 60% in class 10th, 12th, and 60% in Mathematics in class 10th from a recognised board.
Students who have applied to the Integrated MBA program, if they don’t have 60% marks in class 10th, they can qualify for this if they have a SAT score of 600 for Maths.
For the Full-Time PhD program, candidates must have a minimum of 60% marks in their graduation and 55% marks in their Master's degree and need a valid test score from entrance exams, such as CAT, CMAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, NET JRF, NMAT, and XAT.
Candidates with professional qualifications such as ACA, FAC, AICWAI, and ACSI qualifications can apply for the Full-Time PhD program.
For the Part-Time PhD program, candidates require an MBA degree with 55% marks in the qualifying examinations and five years of Work Experience after the MBA.
Students with Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate degrees from ODL (Open and Distance Learning) institutions are also eligible to apply as per the UGC guidelines.
IFMR also offers the Advanced Management Program for senior managers with 7-15 years of experience.
The Krea Mastery Leadership Program is for senior executives with 12-20 years of experience.
IFMR also has a UGC-approved EMBA course for working professionals, in which candidates who have a minimum of 7 years of work experience after postgraduation can apply.
The Career Relations and Corporate Services (CRCS) of IFMR-GSB works closely with businesses and organisations to provide placement. For the year 2024-25, 95% of the students were placed in the top BFSI, Consulting, and IT Firms. Some of the top recruiters who took part in the placement drive were JP Morgan Chase, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, Oxane Partners, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Moody’s, Wells Fargo, Federal Bank, Oracle, Arcesium, etc.
