For the B.Tech lateral entry, candidates must pass a 3-year diploma in engineering exam with at least 45% marks (40% for the reserved category). If a candidate has qualified CAT, MAT or GMAT (for the MBA only), or JEE Mains/CUET (for B.Tech), then he is exempted from the written test conducted by the university, but the candidate must appear for the personal interview and group discussion. Based on the performance in the entrance test and interview, the past academic year, work experience (If any), merit lists are prepared. Admission to the MBA program, candidates to have a Class 12 and a graduation degree with a minimum of 50%(45% in reserved category) marks.

The eligibility criteria for various courses of the HIET Ghaziabad are based on the norms of AKTU, CCSU, and BTE. For the B.Tech program, candidates should have passed Class 12 (with Science streams) from a recognised board. They must have at least 45% marks for the general category and 40% for SC/ST categories. For the BBA program, candidates from any stream can apply for admission after clearing the Class 12 examination with at least 45% marks for the General and OBC category and 40% for the SC/ST category. For admission to an MBA program, the candidates must hold a three-year or more bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). Eligibility criteria for the BCA program: candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 45% marks for the General category and 40% for the reserved category from a recognised board, and Mathematics is mandatory at High School or Intermediate. For the polytechnic program, candidates must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with specific subjects like Science, Mathematics, and English with a minimum of 35% marks. The JEECUP exam is mandatory. Admission to the 2nd year lateral entry at the Polytechnic, candidates must have passed Class 12 with a science stream, or a 2-year ITI diploma and JEECUP Entrance Exam.
