

The Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) was founded in 2008 under the Government of Bihar as an autonomous institute. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and National Board of Accreditation (NBA). CIMP is also deemed equal to the MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). In the NIRF 2024 ranking, it was ranked 49th by the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2025, 149th by India Today, and 192nd by The Week.
The institute conducts a 2-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development (PGDM-IEV) and fellowship programs in management (FPM and EFPM), which take up to four years. Admission to these varied degree programs is done on the basis of entrance exam scores and the CUET-PG examination.
The CIMP campus has an area of 10 acres and has modern infrastructure, which consists of smart classrooms, a digital library, computer laboratories, an auditorium, a sports complex, and separate boys' and girls' hostels. The 2023 batch had 100% placements with the highest salary package at INR 16.42 LPA and an average salary package of INR 6.84 LPA. Some of the major recruiters were ICICI Bank, Amul, Axis Bank, HDFC Life, and ITC.

CIMP runs a full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM),equivalent to an MBA and the Fellowship Programs in Management (FPM and EFPM) for the academic year 2025-26. For admission in 2025-27 PGDM, an applicant must have a bachelor's degree with the required percentage of marks. Additionally, the candidate must have a valid scorecard of the national-level entrance exam. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
An online/offline application is acceptable with an INR 1,000 fee (INR 500 reserved/PwD). Final selection of the candidate is based on candidates academic background, scores in the entrance exam and work experience.

For admission to the PGDM program, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/DA candidates). Final year students can also apply. Additionally candidate must have a valid score in entrance exams like CAT 2024, XAT 2025, MAT (Aug 2024 onwards), ATMA 2025, CUET 2025, CMAT 2025, or GMAT.
For the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), applicants should hold a master’s degree with at least 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA). Candidates in their final year of graduation may also apply. Additionally, applicants must submit a valid test score (CAT/GMAT/GRE/NET), along with a 5000-word research synopsis, and participate in a research proposal presentation and personal interview, with the final selection based on a weighted evaluation of academic background, test score, presentation, and interview.
CIMP has constantly maintained the 100% record-breaking placement record of the PGDM 2023-25 batch. More than 50 renowned companies took part in campus recruitment, 35+ of which made offers, with 20 new recruiters. The highest salary package was INR 16.42 LPA, the average salary package was INR 6.84 LPA, and the median salary package was INR 6.50 LPA. The top 25% of students received an average package of about INR 9.15 LPA. Top 50% received INR 8.45 LPA, and the rest of the batch averaged INR 7.50 LPA.
It is also interesting to note that this year, CIMP published its first-ever audited placement report, which is aligned with the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS).
Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP)provides different kinds of scholarships to help deserving students. The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFW) includes a tuition fee waiver for 5% of the total intake to those whose parental annual income is less than INR 8 lakh. The Meritorious Girl Student Scholarship (MGSS) is given annually to the three best-ranking girls among the top ten of their year with a scholarship of free tuition. Also, successful candidates in the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) are offered a monthly fellowship of INR 20,000 plus, on-campus residence up to four years. Access to national scholarship schemes is also provided by CIMP through the National Scholarship Portal and Vidya Lakshmi, whereby the barrier to quality management education should not be financial constraints to talented students.
