Brainware University was established in 2016. It is a UGC-recognised private university in Barasat, Kolkata, West Bengal. The university is recognised by DSIR as a Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO). The Brainware University affiliation consists of various regulatory bodies such as PCI, AIU, INC, BCI, etc. It is one of the best private universities in India.

Brainware University Admission Overview 2026
Brainware University course admissions for 2026 are done through the Brainware Eligibility Test (BET) and CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, WBJEMAT, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, and GATE tests. This test selects students for UG, PG, Diploma and PhD courses. The university offers various programs in different fields like Engineering, Management, Agriscience, Biotechnology, Medical and Allied Health Sciences, Media Science and Humanities. Popular courses include B.Tech, MBA and M.Tech. Students can apply online through the Brainware University portal or visit the admission office for offline admission.
Note: Admissions are open for the academic year 2026-27. Students who apply early can get a discount of up to INR 30,000 on their chosen course. This offer is for a limited time.
Brainware University Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026
The university provides a wide range of courses at UG, PG, Diploma and PhD levels. Every programme has specific eligibility rules, including subject combinations and minimum marks. Some courses also ask for entrance exams such as WBJEE, BET, CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, WBJEMAT, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE, or CEED. Students must meet these requirements to get admitted.
UG Courses
Most UG programmes require 50% marks in Class 12.
Technical courses like B.Tech need 50% in class 12 and 45% marks in three subjects Physics, Maths, and one science/technical subject.
BBA, BCA, Animation, Journalism, English, and Psychology also need 50% in Class 12 in any stream.
Professional courses such as Pharmacy, Nursing, Agriculture, Biotechnology need 45%–60% marks with required subjects.
LLB and Integrated Law programmes require 45%–60% marks depending on the course.
PG Courses
Most PG courses require 40%–55% marks in graduation.
Technical PG courses like M.Tech and MCA need a relevant background (B.Tech/MSc/MCA) and 50% marks.
Management programmes like MBA require 50% in graduation (any stream).
Science PG programmes (Biotech, Microbiology, Agriculture, Optometry, etc.) need 50%–55% with relevant subjects.
Diploma Courses
Require 40%–50% in 10+2 with the required subjects.
PhD
Must have a postgraduate degree and a valid entrance exam.
Note: Reserved category students (SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD) get 5% marks relaxation, but this rule does not apply to Law programs.
Brainware University Placement
Brainware University Kolkata placement is improving every year. The university gives training from the first semester. Students attend soft skills classes, mock interviews and aptitude tests. They also join workshops and internships. These activities help them understand real job needs. In 2023, the university achieved a 98% placement rate. Many top companies visited the campus every year to recruit eligible candidates.
Brainware University highest package has also been good. In 2024, more than 750 students were placed in different companies. The highest CTC was INR 12 LPA, and the average CTC was INR 3.5 LPA. The highest package changes every year, depending on the programme and the company. Besides Brainware University scholarships, students can apply for state and national government scholarships. The scholarships are offered based on merit or the student's financial need. A student can use only one Brainware University scholarship at a time.
Academic Excellence Scholarship (Brainware Vidyalankar)
Students scoring 90% to 94.99% in their qualifying exam will get a 50% tuition fee waiver.
Students scoring 95% or above will get a full tuition fee waiver.
Toppers from institutions with less than 90% marks can get an additional INR 25,000 off (limited seats).
Note
This scholarship is not available for M.Pharm, B.Pharm, D.Pharm, BSc Nursing and GNM courses.
It is also not applicable for international students or alumni.
Merit Scholarship (Brainware Medha Britti)
The Brainware Merit Scholarship, also known as the Brainware Medha Britti Scholarship. This scholarship is for UG, PG and Diploma students. It is based on marks in the qualifying exam. Students must have at least 60% marks in their academic record to get this scholarship.

Brainware University offers Merit Scholarships for various UG programs based on Class 12 marks. Students who get higher marks get a bigger scholarship amount, and each course offers different amounts based on the marks. These scholarships are given only if the Vidyalankar scheme is not applicable.

Brainware Sports Scholarship (Brainware Krira Ratna)
Brainware Sports Scholarship (Brainware Krira Ratna) provides fee waivers based on sports achievements. Students who have won medals, trophies, or certificates at the international or national level get a full tuition fee waiver. State-level achievers get a 50% waiver, and district-level achievers get a 25% waiver. This scholarship is not provided to international students.
Scholarship Criteria
A student can apply for only one scholarship at Brainware University. Those who receive full or half freeship cannot get the Early Bird Offer. To qualify for any scholarship, the student must have at least 60% marks in every class.
