AIIMS Deoghar is one of the Apex healthcare institutes being established by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). Located in Deoghar, Jharkhand, the institute was founded in 2019 to correct regional imbalances in tertiary-level healthcare in the country.
It is established by an Act of Parliament to impart Undergraduate and Postgraduate medical education in all its branches and fields. It offers UG, PG, Super-Speciality and Fellowship programs. The courses offered by AIIMS Deoghar are MBBS, MD, MS, MDS, DM, and MCh. Admission to these courses is based on merit and an entrance exam, such as NEET UG, NEET PG, etc.

AIIMS Deoghar, Jharkhand, offers courses at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Super-Speciality, and Fellowship levels. The courses are offered in different specialisations, such as Biochemistry, CFM, Dermatology, FMT, PMR, Physiology, and more. To be eligible for MBBS, students must have completed their Class 12 with PCB and English by securing at least 60% marks (50% marks for SC/ ST).
Admission to the MBBS is based on NEET UG. Whereas for the PG course, candidates must hold an MBBS degree with a minimum of 50% marks from an NMC-recognised medical college, and have also completed a one-year internship.
Admissions to these courses start by registering for the entrance exams, appearing for these exams, participating in the counseling round for seat allotment, and paying the admission fee to secure admission to confirm their seat. Admission to the MBBS course is expected to start in August 2026 (Tentative) and continue till October 2026 (Tentative).

Candidates who wish to gain admission to AIIMS Deoghar must fulfill the eligibility criteria for the specific course they are applying for. Below is a list of eligibility criteria for some of the courses:
For the MBBS course, candidates must have passed Class 12th with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects. Whereas, students with Biology as an additional subject will also be eligible for NEET UG.
To be eligible for BSc Nursing, students should have completed their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, English, Biology, or Mathematics.
Students who want to apply for the MD Biochemistry program need to be graduates with an MBBS degree from an MCI-recognised university with at least 55% marks (50% for SC & ST students).
Candidates seeking admission to the MD/MS programs are required to appear for the INI CET entrance examination, followed by a counselling process for seat allocation.
The Institute hasn’t released any placement records on its official website till now. However, it offers a structured internship program that is important for B.Sc Nursing students. They are given a 6-month internship after 3.5 years of study, with a stipend ranging from INR 13,000 to INR 14,000. Whereas, MBBS students must have a compulsory 1-year internship with a stipend of INR 30,000.
Deoghar AIIMS offers the ‘Ambuj Sonu Smriti Scholarship’ for students who need financial assistance and have a good academic record. This scholarship is for those students who are pursuing MBBS, Nursing, and Paramedical courses. A total of 3 students from the MBBS, Nursing, and Paramedical courses will be selected and offered a scholarship of INR 50,000.
Students will be selected based on their academic performance, if they are involved in research, or if they have participated in any extracurricular activities or community services.
