Karnataka DCET Exam: The Diploma Common Entrance Test (DCET) is state state-level entrance examination which is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for lateral entry admissions into the second year B.E./B.Tech and 1st year B.Arch courses in Karnataka engineering colleges. The application form was released on 24 April 2025, and the last date to apply was 10 May  2025. The application fee was INR 650 for General/OBC and INR 500 for SC/ST/Category candidates. 

The Karnataka DCET 2025 held on 31 May 2025. Candidates who have passed their 10+2 from a recognized board can apply for this exam.

The Diploma Common Entrance Test (DCET) is an important step towards admission into regular bachelor’s degree courses in engineering and architecture. This exam is exclusively for students who want to get direct admission into the second year of undergraduate engineering programs through lateral entry or the first year of the Bachelor of Architecture. This exam is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) every year. The DCET process starts with filling up the application form for 2025, KEA made the application form was available online on April 24, 2025. Students had to visit the official website kea.kar.nic.in to register. Students were required to upload scanned copies of their documents, including a recent passport-sized photo, signature, and diploma marksheets. After that came the payment of the application fee, which was INR 650 for General and OBC candidates, and INR 500 for SC, ST, and Category-I students. The last date to fill out and submit the application was May 10, 2025.

For lateral entry admission, admit cards were uploaded on 20 May 2025. The question paper has objective-type questions based on the subjects covered during the diploma course.

The results of the DCET 2025 Exam were announced by the examination authority (KEA) on 24 June 2025. The results can be checked online using the candidate’s application number and date of birth. The scorecard contains information about the grades obtained, rank, and eligibility status.

Karnataka DCET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Reservation-Based Eligibility Criteria

All reservation claims must be supported by proper documents during the document verification process. Candidates applying under any reservation category must meet the general eligibility requirements along with specific conditions:

  • Candidates who studied in Kannada medium from Class 1 to 10 can claim reservation under the Kannada medium quota. A study certificate is required as proof.

  • Those who completed 10 academic years in a rural area of Karnataka can apply under the rural reservation category. A certificate from the school must be submitted.

  • Applicants from SC, ST, Category-I, 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B can claim reservation as per Karnataka government norms. A valid caste certificate is required.

  • Candidates with 40% or more physical disability can apply under the physically disabled (PwD) quota. A valid disability certificate issued by a government medical board is needed for the PWD reservation quota.

Course-wise eligibility criteria

For B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering): 

  • Candidates must have completed a Diploma or equivalent examination in Engineering/Technology.

  • General category candidates must have at least 45% aggregate marks in their diploma program.

  • SC/ST/OBC category candidates must have at least 40% aggregate marks.

For B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture): 

  • Candidates must have passed a Diploma in Architecture or a related field with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (general category).

  • SC/ST/OBC candidates must have at least 45% aggregate marks.

  • Additionally, all applicants must have scored a minimum of 40% marks in the NATA exam (National Aptitude Test in Architecture).

The DCET 2025 application form was released by KEA on April 24, 2025, at kea.kar.nic.in, and the last date to apply was May 10, 2025. Candidates needed to first register using their name, email ID, and mobile number. After registration, they filled in personal, academic, and course details.  Students were required to upload scanned copies of their documents, including a recent passport-sized photo, signature, and diploma marksheets. The application fee for General/OBC category candidates is INR 650 and INR 500 for SC/ST/Category candidates, which needs to be paid online through online payment methods like net banking, credit card, or payment gateway. After submission, KEA provided a correction window to fix any errors in the form.

Karnataka DCET Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The Karnataka Diploma Common Entrance Test (DCET) is an offline, pen-and-paper exam with multiple-choice questions. It carries a total of 100 marks. There are 100 questions in the exam, with each question carrying 1 mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The Karnataka DCET marking scheme awards one mark for each correct answer and does not penalise for incorrect answers. The exam consists of 100 marks, divided into three sections: Applied Science (40 marks), Applied Mathematics (40 marks), and an Engineering paper (60 marks).

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has announced the admit card release date on its official website. Candidates who have applied for the DCET Exam 2025 were able to access the admit card from 20 May 2025 till exam day. This admit card was needed to be carried along with other required documents on the exam day at the examination centre. Candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card and an identity proof to the examination centers. The hall ticket contains information like the candidate’s name, date of the examination, exam center name, signature, etc. 

Karnataka DCET 2025 Exam Answer Key

The answer key for Karnataka DCET 2025 was out on 4 June 2025, before the results are announced. Candidates could check their answers by downloading the PDF and estimate their scores by visiting and downloading the document from the official website of NTA. In case of discrepancy, candidates had the option to raise objections within a certain period and pay a fee for each question. After examining the objections, the examination authority has released a final answer key on 10 June 2025.

Karnataka DCET 2025 Exam Result

The Karnataka DCET 2025 exam results are officially announced by the authority after the release of the final answer key, which was made available for all lateral entry students on 24 June 2025. The results were in a merit list format, which included details such as the candidate’s name, rank, and qualifying status. The admissions were taken on the basis of the seat matrix. The authority has uploaded this list on 27 June 2025. 

Karnataka DCET 2025 Cutoff 

The DCET cutoff is the minimum marks required for admission into lateral entry B.E. and B.Arch programmes offered by engineering colleges in Karnataka. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) released the DCET 2025 cutoff after the results on 7 July 2025. The cutoff marks vary every year and depend on the number of students who appeared in the examination, the reservation category, the exam difficulty level, etc.
