Banaras Hindu University Undergraduate Entrance Test (BHU UET entrance exam) has now been replaced by the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET UG), which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The application process for it began on March 1, 2025, and the last date to apply was March 24, 2025. The correction window for it was made available from March 24 to 26 for the candidates to correct any discrepancies in the form. The admit cards for CUET UG were released in multiple phases starting from May  10, 2025, and the exam was conducted from May 13 to June 3, 2025. The provisional answer key for the exam was released on June 17, followed by the release of the final answer key on July 1, with results being declared on July 4. 

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will start its counselling in the month of August 2025 via its common admission portal. The application fees for CUET UG 2025 were in the range of INR 800 to INR 1000, depending on the category to which the candidate belongs. Candidates were required to pay an extra fee for the additional subjects. 

The eligibility criteria for the students applying for the exam are that they are required to pass the Class 12th examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% and there is no upper age limit for the candidates interested in applying. 

This exam acts as an entry point for the candidates who want to take admission into a variety of UG programs at BHU, including BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), BCom (Hons), BFA, BPA, and B.Voc. The CUET UG is a computer-based test (CBT), and it covers questions from the language chosen by the candidate, domain-specific subjects, and general knowledge.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) earlier used to conduct its BHU UET entrance Exam 2025. But now this exam is replaced by the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET UG), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This exam acts as an screening tes for admission into various UG courses in BHU. 

For this year, the CUET UG application form was released on March 1, 2025, with the last date to apply being on March 24, 2025. Candidates were required to pay the application fee by March 25. A correction window was also opened from 24 March 2025 to 26 March 2025 for the candidates who had filled in the wrong information in their application form. The exam was held between May 13 and June 3, on multiple days.  The provisional answer key of the exam was made public on June 17, and the final answer key was released on July 1, 2025. After reviewing all the objections, the results were declared on July 4, 2025. The candidates were required to pay the application fee in order to completely submit the application form. It was around INR 1,000 for the general category, INR 900 for OBC-NCL/EWS, INR 800 for SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender, and INR 4,500 for international candidates, with additional charges for extra subjects.

Banaras Hindu University decides the overall BHU UET eligibility criteria, and it is mandatory for the students to fulfill them if they want to apply for one of the undergraduate courses in Banaras Hindu University. The BHU has mandated the use of CUET UG scores for taking admission, so candidates were required to give the CUET UG exam. The eligibility criteria for the CUET UG exam are mentioned below:

General Eligibility

  • Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens, but foreign nationals, NRIs, OCIs, and PIOs may also apply if they meet the university-specific requirements.

  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit to appear for CUET UG. However, some universities may have age restrictions for specific courses.

Educational Eligibility

  • Qualification: Candidates must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board (CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, NIOS, IB, etc.).

  • Subject Requirements: Candidates are required to choose the correct CUET subject that is similar to the UG course they’re applying for at the university. For example:

    • B.Sc. (Hons) in Biology: Requires Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

    • B.Com (Hons): May require Accountancy, Business Studies, or Mathematics

  • NIOS and other open board students are eligible, but some universities may have limitations on it.

Minimum Marks:

  • General category: 50% aggregate in Class 12

  • SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD: 45% aggregate

Special eligibility

  • Course-Specific Criteria: Some programs may have unique requirements, like:

    • For Engineering/Tech courses: Candidates must have studied PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)

    • For Performing/Fine Arts: Candidates may require practical exams or portfolios in addition to CUET scores

    • For language Programs, students may require proficiency or prior study in the target language

  • Foreign Board Students: They are required to provide the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) equivalency certificate to validate their Class 12 qualification.

BHU UET application form was released to be filled by the students on March 1, 2025, with the last date to apply being March 24, 2025. The candidates were able to submit the application fee by March 24, 2025. The students who had filled in some incorrect information in the application form were allowed to correct it in the correction window, which was made available from March 24 to 26, allowing candidates to fix any errors. The BHU UET exam was held between May 13 and June 3, 2025. After the exam, the final answer key was made public on July 1, and the result declaration was done on July 4, 2025.  It should be kept in mind that the admission for BHU UET is done through the CUET UG exam conducted by NTA. 

The application fee for CUET UG 2025 varied slightly depending on the category of the candidate. The general category (UR) students were required to pay INR 1,000, the OBC-NCL/EWS had to pay INR 900, SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender had to pay INR 800, and international candidates were required to pay INR 4,500. Additional subjects incurred extra charges ranging from INR 350 to INR 1,800, depending on the category of the student.

To fill out the CUET UG application form for taking admission into BHU UG courses, the candidates had to visit the official site of NTA. After visiting it, they were required to register on it by entering their details like name, date of birth, and mobile number. After registering, they will have to complete the application form by entering all the remaining details, like choosing the subject for which they want to give the exam, selecting the preferred city of the exam, and uploading all the necessary documents. They will also have to pay the application fee in order to complete the application form, as without it, the application form will not be considered complete.

Step 1: Aspirants who want to fill out the application form will have to first visit the official website, https://cuet.nta.nic.in/

Step 2: After visiting the official website, the candidates will have to register themselves on the portal by entering their required details.

Step 3: Once the candidates have registered themselves on the portal, they will have to fill in their personal details, educational details, and upload the necessary documents.

Step 4: Candidates should check all the details before submitting them.

Step 5: They should also take out the printout of the application form for future use, as it will be used in the admission process at a later stage.

BHU UET Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

The BHU UET exam was conducted by BHU for taking admission into the UG courses of BHU. But, it was replaced by the CUET UG for taking admission into all the undergraduate courses in the various central universities. The CUET UG 2025 exam was conducted in CBT mode, and it was divided into three sections: 

  • First section- Languages, 

  • Second Section- Domain Subjects

  • Third Section-  General Aptitude Test. 

Each paper consists of multiple-choice questions, and candidates can choose up to five subjects. The duration for each paper is 60 minutes, and the total marks per subject are 250.

The BHU UET syllabus is the same as that of the CUET UG exam, which is now considered for taking admission into the various UG courses in BHU. The exam syllabus is a combination of three sections and covers topics from the language chosen by the candidate, the specific subject of the candidate, and general aptitude. BHU UET Admit Card

The BHU UET admit card will be the same as that of the CUET UG exam. The admit card is released a few days before the scheduled date of the exam. It was released in multiple phases as the exam was being conducted. The admit card for the 13 May 2025 exam was released on 10th May 2025. Candidates were advised to download the admit card as soon as it was released on the official website. It is a very important document, as without it, the candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. 

Below are the steps to download the admit card 

Step 1: To download the admit card candidate will have to first visit the official website of the NTA.

Step 2: On the website of the NTA, find the link for the CUET UG admit card and click on it.

Step 3: Fill in the details needed to be filled in on the portal and click on the submit button.

Step 4: After clicking on the submit button candidate will have to find the tab for the admit card and click on it.

Step 5: The admit card will be visible on the screen, and candidates can then proceed to download it.

The BHU does not officially release the BHU UET answer key; instead, the answer key, which is officially released by the NTA for CUET UG exam, is considered. The NTA releases the answer key in two stages. In the first stage, it released a provisional answer key, which contains the correct answers for all the questions asked in the exam. The candidates were given a chance to raise any objections if they had in the correction window provided. After reviewing all the objections raised by the students, the NTA released the final answer key on 1st July 2025, and post the declaration of the final answer key, the official results were declared on 4 July 2025.

Steps to view the BHU UET answer key

Step 1: Candidates should first visit the official website of the NTA and click on the link for CUET UG answer key.

Step 2: On the window that opens, fill in the necessary details and click on the submit button.

Step 3: On the portal, there will be a link for the answer key, and candidates are required to click on it.

Step 4: After clicking on the tab, the answer key will be visible on the screen, and it will consist of the correct answers to all the questions asked and the candidate's response sheet.

BHU UET Result

The BHU UET result is the same as that of the CUET UG result, and BHU considers it for taking admission into their UG courses. The result for CUET UG was declared on 4th July 2025 after the release of the final answer key on 1 July 2025. The result consists of the scores of the candidates section-wise, their overall score, and their passing status. 

Here are the Steps to Download the Result:

Step 1: To download the result for the CUET UG student have to first visit the official website of the NTA.

Step 2: Once on the website the candidate will have to find the tab for the CUET UG result and click on it.

Step 3: Fill in all the required details needed for logging into the portal.

Step 4: After logging in, there will be a link to the result. On clicking on it, it will show the result of the candidate.

The BHU ET cutoff will be released by the BHU after the results are declared officially by the NTA. The result for CUET UG was released on 4 July 2025. The candidates who want to take admission in various UG courses in BHU can apply through the common admission portal of BHU. The BHU will release the official cutoff for all the UG courses soon after the release of the CUET UG results. BHU UET Preparation Tips and Books

  • Candidates are required to strictly follow the NCERT Class 12th books. 

  • The candidate should make a daily timetable giving ample time to revision and full-length mock tests.

  • Students should practice the sectional and full-length mock tests regularly.

  • For efficient preparation of the topics, students should use flash cards, summary notes, and continuous revision cycles.

  • Students should give ample time to each and every topic and cover them before the exam.

  • Students should work on their weak topics and should give more time to them. 

  • The CUET exam gives importance to the basic and fundamental topics, so candidates should prepare accordingly.

BHU UET Counselling and Seat Allotment Process 

BHU UET counselling and seat allotment process starts once the CUET UG results are declared on the 4th July 2025. After the declaration of the result, candidates will have to fill in the required details on the college admission portal of the BHU. After reviewing all the applications and their scores, the BHU will publish the result of seat allotment. Below are the steps to fill the counselling process.

Step 1: Registration on the BHU Portal

  • Candidates are required to visit the website bhuonline.in and log in using your CUET application ID and candidate roll number.

  • After logging in, candidates should fill in their details and upload their other documents.

Step 2: Preference Entry

  • Once the documents are uploaded, select your preferred course, subject combinations, and college location (Main Campus, RGSC, or affiliated colleges).

  • Candidates will have to choose between regular fee seats or paid seats if regular seats are full.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

  • Based on the CUET UG merit, preference of the candidate and seat availability in the university, BHU will allot seats to the candidates.

  • After selecting the seat preference, the candidate will receive a provisional admission letter if selected, with course details and fee information.

Step 4: Fee Payment

  • To confirm the admission, the candidate will have to pay the admission fee online via debit/credit card or offline at designated counters set up by BHU.

Step 5: Final Admission Confirmation

  • After the fee payment, candidates should download the final admission letter.
