The ‘’Tribhuvan’’ Sahkari University has been established through an Act of Parliament at the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) in 2025. It is a premier institution that offers management programmes based on understanding the real management problems.
Named after Shri Tribhuvandas K. Patel, a respected leader of India’s cooperative movement, IRMA has now become “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University. This change is an important step in improving cooperative education in India. The new university will focus on providing better education, training, and research to support and strengthen the cooperative sector.
It is the country’s first national-level cooperative University with a vision for capacity building in the cooperative sector and to realise the vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi.’ The university will provide specialised education, training, and research opportunities in areas such as Cooperative management, finance, law, and rural development.
Some of the courses offered by this University are an MBA in Cooperative Banking & Finance, an MBA in Cooperative Management, Agribusiness Management, and Rural Management. Why do students need to choose “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University? Because the university has grown from the strong base of the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). It carries forward IRMA’s many years of experience in rural management and adds a wider focus on co-operative development, policy improvement, and community based research. At the university, learning doesn’t happen only in classrooms; the students also work in the field, where they can apply what they learn in real situations.
“Tribhuvan” Sahkari University is located in Anand, Gujarat, the birthplace of India’s White Revolution. The university is surrounded by famous cooperative institutions like AMUL and NDDB, which create a special learning environment. The campus encourages open discussion, diversity, and personal growth, helping students learn, live, and lead together.
The University also has an experienced faculty, with professors who are from distinguished institutes, such as IIT Bombay, IIMA, TISS Mumbai, XIM Bhubaneshwar, IIT Kharagpur, and more.
