Scholarships Offered at SKIT
Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students: The Pragati Scholarship scheme for girl students is implemented by AICTE, especially for the girl students pursuing their higher education in the technical field. A total of 5,000 scholarships are being offered by the board under this scheme to the girls for pursuing their 1st year of the degree-level programme. Under the Pragati Scholarship scheme for girls, students will get INR 50,000 per annum for the 4 years of study and a maximum of 3 years for students who have taken admission in the second year laterally. Candidates are not required to submit any document proof while availing benefits. To avail the Pragati scholarship scheme for girl students must complete the eligibility criteria, which is given below.
The girl candidate must be a student in the first year of a degree-level course or 2nd year of a Bachelor’s degree through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved Institution of the respective year.
Maximum two girl children per family are eligible.
Family Income of the girl child per annum from all sources should not be more than INR 8 lakh in the current financial year. A valid income certificate issued by the State/ UT Government needs to be submitted to avail this scholarship scheme.
AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme: The AICTE Swanath Scholarship scheme, offered by AICTE, is designed for the encouragement and support of orphans and wards of parents who died due to Covid-19, wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed) to pursue education. Under this scholarship programme, a maximum of 2000 scholarships (1000 for Degree Students and 1000 for Diploma Students) will be awarded every year to eligible candidates, and INR 50,000 will be given to the eligible students. The eligibility criteria to avail this scholarship are as follows.
Applicants must be from any one of the Orphan categories, both parents died due to Covid-19, Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed), and the parent is suffering from a critical life-threatening disease (Like Cancer, etc.),/ Died or severely disabled (above 80%) in an accident.
Candidates' family income should not be more than INR 8 lakh per annum from all sources. A valid income certificate issued by the State/UT Government is to be submitted.
Students must be currently studying in the AICTE-approved institutions and courses at the Degree/ Diploma level in regular mode, and the candidate should not be a recipient of any of the Central Govt. / State Govt. / AICTE Sponsored scholarships.
Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities: The Post Matric Scholarships for students with disabilities are offered by the GOI's Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, which comes under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, intending to provide the right to education to students who are unable to pursue their higher education due to their health issues or any other disability. To achieve this objective, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, is implementing the “Scheme of Scholarships for Students with Disabilities”. Candidates who want to avail the facility for this scholarship scheme can check the eligibility criteria below.
These scholarships are open to Indian citizens only. All scholarships are open to students with benchmark disabilities, i.e., a disability of 40% or more, as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Applicants must also possess:
i) A valid certificate of disability issued by the competent authority
ii) Aadhaar-based biometric authentication.
iii) UDID/UDID enrollment
Two children with disabilities from the same family can receive the benefits of the scheme. If the second child is a twin, then the scholarship under the scheme will also be given to the twin child.
The scholarship will be available for one year only, and if a student has to repeat a class, he or she will not receive the scholarship for the second year for that class.
Candidates also should not avail the benefits of any other scholarship scheme from any external sources.
Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme for CAPF & Assam Rifles: Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) offered by GOI's Welfare and Rehabilitation Board, which is a part of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was introduced from the academic year 2006-07 to encourage higher technical & professional education for the dependent wards & widows of Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles (CAPF & AR) Personnel. The student must be a ward/widow of CAPF, Assam Rifles, or eligible State/UT Police personnel.
Must be studying a professional degree course like Engineering, Medical, BBA, BCA, MBA, MCA, Nursing, Pharmacy, etc.
The student must have a minimum 60% marks in the qualifying exam.
For scholarship renewal, the student must pass each year with at least 50% marks.
Students studying through distance learning and those who already have another scholarship are not eligible.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS): The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS) is a scholarship launched by the Government of India to support bright students from financially weaker families. Its main aim is to help students continue higher education. Under this scheme, selected students receive financial assistance every year while studying in college, university, or professional courses like engineering and medical studies. The scholarship amount is generally INR 12,000 per year for undergraduate courses and INR 20,000 per year for postgraduate courses. Eligibility Criteria
The student must have scored above the 80% in Class 12 board exams.
Must be studying in a regular college/university course recognised by UGC/AICTE or other approved authorities.
Family income should be up to INR 4.5 lakh per annum.
Students should not be receiving any other scholarship from other sources
Valid bank account and Aadhaar details are required for scholarship payment.
Financial Assistance for Education of the Wards of Beedi/ Cine/ IOMC/ LSDM Workers – Post-Matric: The scholarship scheme by the Ministry of Labour & Employment provides financial assistance to the children of Beedi workers, Cine workers, and workers from Iron Ore, Manganese, Chrome Ore, Limestone, and Dolomite mines. Scholarships are available for both pre-matric and post-matric studies, with benefits ranging from around INR 1,000 to INR 25,000 per year, depending on the course and level of education.
Applications are processed through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). To be eligible, either parent of the student must be employed in the eligible sectors for at least six months, including contract and home-based workers. The student should be studying in a recognised school or college and must meet the required attendance and academic performance criteria. The annual family income should generally not exceed the limit specified in the guidelines. Students also need a separate bank account and required documents such as income proof, worker ID, marksheet, and bank details while applying.
AICTE PG (GATE or GPAT) Scholarship: This scholarship programme is offered by AICTE with the motive of providing financial support to students belonging to the EWS category of society. Under this scholarship programme, applicants who are graduates of master’s degrees like M.Tech, ME, and more can avail the facility.
