Xavier Business School (XBS) is the business institution of St. Xavier University, Kolkata, which has emerged as a leading business school in a short time. The focus on holistic development and learning-by-doing has attracted not only recruiters but also MBA prospective students at XBS.
Placement season of the MBA Batch 2025 will start in July 2025 (expected). It is a critical point at which students, after almost two years of practising their skills, networking, and learning how to fit into the world of employment, will be graduating. Placement at XBS is not only about a job but also about getting students into the right jobs that meet their strengths and desires.
The placement process at Xavier Business School is well structured and streamlined for students as well as recruiters. The process begins with the registration of students and the submission of resumes, and then it opens with pre-placement talks in which the companies explain about themselves, their company, and the job position. Such sessions not only reveal to students what the various industries would want of them but also prepare them. The process is usually followed up by aptitude tests, group discussions, and a number of rounds of technical and HR based interviews. The school does not rank according to academic performance only, but also on the ability to communicate, the capability to solve a problem, and cultural compatibility at each stage of the education.
In the 2024 placement season, a total of 95% of the students have received employment offers, and over 50 top organisations visited the campus. These companies were the representatives of a large number of areas: consulting, finance, IT, FMCG, e-commerce, and even attractive startups. The maximum salary stood at INR 12 LPA, and the top 25 % of the batch had a stunning average of INR 9 LPA. Such performance is not only an indicator of the quality of training level at XBS but also the ability of the students to enter the industry and be able to perform as expected.
The largest employers who recruited last year in XBS were Deloitte, EY, PwC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Amazon, Tata Capital, Nestlé, and Tech Mahindra, among others. Such companies would provide opportunities in marketing, finance, HR, operations, analytics, and consulting functions so that the students could choose professions based on their preferences.
Another important component of the XBS MBA experience includes the Summer Internship Program (SIP), conducted after the second semester. The 2-month internship is required in any company, where all the students work on a real-time project and get practical experience. Such internships are likely to turn into full-time employment, and plenty of students are offered pre-placement offers (PPOs) following their summer performance.
Other than internships, Xavier Business School Kolkata spends much in ensuring that the students are industry-ready. A broad spectrum of activities carried out by the Placement and Corporate Relations Cell comprises resume-building workshops, mock interviews, domain-specific training, group discussions, and career counselling e-seminars. With these programs, students gain confidence and have an added advantage to stand above the rest in a competitive job market.
