St. Xavier’s University is a private university which was founded in 2017 and is located in Kolkata. It is a trusted university because it is recognised by the UGC and it is a part of the AIU group. The university has different schools, such as Xavier Business School and Xavier Law School. Xavier Business School has approval from AICTE. Xavier Law School has approval from BCI. The university offers various courses related to Management, Arts, Law, Commerce and Science. Applicants who want to study in these areas can apply for their chosen course. Admission is based on merit and the university entrance test. All applications are submitted online through the St. Xavier’s University student login portal. The application fee is INR 1000 for most courses and INR 2500 for PhD. Students must pay an admission fee of INR 30,000 and a refundable security deposit of INR 5,000 in the first semester. The university also charges an alumni membership fee of INR 5,015, which is paid in the sixth semester. MBA applicants have to pass exams like XAT, CAT, MAT, CMAT or NMAT, while most other courses require university admission tests.

St Xavier's University Kolkata Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026
St. Xavier’s University Kolkata offers multiple programs across undergraduate, postgraduate, law and management fields. Every course has certain academic criteria and admission guidelines which must be fulfilled by the students before applying. The points below explain the eligibility criteria for each program in a clear and easy way.
UG Courses - Students must pass Class 12 with at least 45% marks in the required subjects.
PG Courses - Applicants must have a graduation degree with at least 45% marks (40% in some reserved categories). The admission depends on the marks in the Admission Test.
LLM - Candidates must hold a 3-year LLB degree recognised by the BCI or a 5 to 6 year integrated LLB degree. The minimum marks required are 50% for the general category and 45% for the specified categories.
BA LLB (Hons) and B.Com LLB (Hons) - Applicants must have at least 45% marks overall and must pass in all four main subjects as per the Board/Council rules. Admission is based on the Admission Test marks.
MBA - Students must have a 3-year undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university. A minimum of 50% marks is required (45% for SC/ST/OBC/Christian candidates). If final results are not available, marks from previous semesters will be considered. Applicants must appear in national-level MBA entrance exams such as XAT, CAT, MAT, CMAT, or NMAT. The initial selection for GD-PI-WAT is based on the entrance exam scores.
MBA Executive - Applicants must hold a 3-year undergraduate degree with at least 45% marks. They must have at least 2.5 years of full-time work experience and should be currently employed in a registered company.
