Silicon University Overview
Silicon University (formerly known as Silicon Institute of Technology) was founded in 2001 in Odisha. It was upgraded to Silicon University on 31st January 2024. The University aims to become a centre of excellence in the fields of technical education & research and create responsible citizens.
Silicon University has an NAAC Grade ‘A’ Accreditation, and three of its undergraduate programs, CSE, ECE, and EEE, are NBA accredited since 2018. It is also ranked in Band 201-300 in the Engineering Category in the NIRF Rankings for 2025 and 2024. Additionally, the university is also recognised by the University Grants Commission.
The University offers courses such as B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc Data Science, MCA, and PhD programs. Along with the courses, Silicon University Odisha also offers Summer Internship programs that help students deepen their knowledge and gain new skills by applying their learning to real-life technology.
Silicon’s campus, ‘SiliconTech’, is spread across 18.5 acres in Infocity, Bhubaneswar. It is a residential institute with over 3321 students, 179 faculty members, 7 departments, and 63 laboratories. Some of the facilities offered by the University include spacious classrooms with audio-visual facilities, laboratories, an auditorium, Skylab, a gym, a sundeck, a 24/7 ambulance facility, boys' & girls' hostels, and more.
Silicon University Odisha is recognised for its consistent placement among the engineering institutes in Odisha. More than 70% of the students get placed every year. Additionally, around 50% of the students get an average compensation of more than INR 5.16 LPA. The number of students with paid internships is also increasing each year, with the highest internship offer going up to INR 60,000 per month in 2024. Silicon University Admission Overview 2026
Silicon University Bhubaneswar offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs. Some of these courses include B.Tech, M.Tech, Integrated BCA+ MCA, and MSc courses. Students who are applying for any of these courses must make sure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria. Currently, the admissions are open, and candidates must fill out the online application form available on the official website.
Furthermore, the admissions to the Undergraduate programs, such as B.Tech, are based on the rank secured by the students in the JEE Mains exam. Admissions to the Postgraduate programs are based on the rank secured in GATE/OJEE PGAT (Odisha JEE Post Graduate Admission Test) or SUAT (Silicon University Admission Test) or the percentage secured in the qualifying UG examination.

Silicon University Admission Eligibility Criteria 2026
Students who are interested in getting admission into any of the courses offered by Silicon University should fulfil the eligibility criteria given below:
Candidates who want to get admission into the B.Tech course should have passed class 12th with a minimum of 45% marks. They should have studied Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Computer Science, IT, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Biology as one of the optional subjects from a recognised Indian board.
For B.Tech Lateral Entry, students should have completed three/two years (Lateral Entry) diploma examination with at least 45% marks (40% for the reserved category) or in any branch of Engineering & Technology.
Or Candidates should have a B.Sc. degree from a recognised university with a minimum of 45% marks (40% in the reserved category), and they should have passed class 12th with Mathematics as a subject.
Students who want to get into the iMCA course should have passed class 12th with Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Information Science with a minimum of 50% (45% marks for the reserved category).
Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks (45% marks for the reserved category) can apply for the M.Tech course.
For admission into the MCA course, students must have passed the BCA or a Bachelor's in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent degree. Or candidates should have a B.Sc, B.Com, B.A, with Mathematics in class 12th or at the Graduation level.
Silicon University Placement
Since its inception, the University has maintained a good placement record with more than 70% of its students getting placed in top companies each year. According to the placement records of 2024, over 40% students have received offers with the highest salary package of INR 32.5 LPA from Flipkart in 2024.
B.Tech students have received the average salary package of INR 5.16 LPA. Additionally, a total of 272 students got the opportunity for an industry internship with a minimum monthly stipend from INR 8K to INR 60K. Some of the top recruiters of this University are Accenture, Accolite Digital, Acorn Globus, Flipkart, Genpact, HCL, Intel, TCS, and more.
