Sankara Polytechnic College is part of Sankara Educational Institutions. It was started by Sri T.K. Pattabhiraman, who is known as 'Kalvi Chemmal'. The college is run by the Coimbatore Educational and Cultural Foundation Trust. It was founded in 1982 by Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. The college was officially opened in 1983.
Since 1983, Sankara Polytechnic College has been one of the best polytechnic colleges in South India. The college gives students good education and modern facilities. Students here get practical training and learn useful skills. The college helps students grow and become confident leaders.
SPC is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is also approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The college is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu. Students can join full time or part time diploma courses here.
Over the years, the college has achieved a lot. It has received more than 75 awards and signed over 14 MOUs with different organizations. Students have produced more than 1200 projects. Admissions are now open for students interested in pursuing diploma courses at Sankara Polytechnic College. The college offers a variety of diploma programs in engineering and technology, preparing students for careers in different technical fields. To apply, students need to pay an application fee of INR 300 and once selected a one-time admission fee of INR 4,000 is required to confirm the seat. Both fees are non-refundable.
To get admission in these programs students must meet the basic requirement to be eligible. Applicants need to complete class 10th standard (or equivalent) from a recognized board. For lateral entry, students with ITI or 12th (Science) qualifications can directly join the second year of the diploma program.

First Year Admission Students who have passed their 10th standard exam can apply for the first year. This includes students who completed SSLC, Matric, CBSE, or Anglo-Indian board exams.
Second Year – Lateral Entry This option is for students who want to join directly into the second year. Students need to have passed 12th standard in Pure Science or Science with Maths. Students who completed a Vocational or Technical course can also apply. Students who have done 10th plus a 2-year ITI course with the required specialisation are also eligible.
Part Time Course Students who are already working and want to study at the same time can choose this option. Students need a 10th pass along with some work experience. Students who have done 10th plus ITI with the right specialization can also join.
Flexible Learning This option is for working students who want to study at their own pace. Students need to have passed 12th standard with one year of work experience. Students who have completed SSLC along with a 2-year ITI course and one year of work experience can also apply.
Note on 12th Standard Subjects For flexible learning, students should have studied subjects like Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, IT, Biology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Business Studies or Entrepreneurship. (Any three subjects required)
The College has a Training and Placement Cell that works hard to help students get ready for their careers after finishing their studies. The cell is divided into three parts such as Training Cell, the Placement Cell and the Career Development Cell. Each cell plays an important role in supporting students.

The Pragathi Scholarship is specially for girl students studying diploma courses. The family income should be below INR 8 lakhs per year. Selection is based on class 10 marks.
The Swanath Scholarship supports students who have lost their parents, including those whose parents passed away due to Covid-19. Children of armed forces martyrs are also eligible. The family income limit is the same INR 8 lakhs per year.
The Saksham Scholarship is meant for students with disabilities. The disability should be at least 40%. Like the others, the family income must be under INR 8 lakhs per year to qualify.
Students from minority communities such as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis can apply for the Minorities Scholarship. They must have scored at least 50% in their last exam, and the family income should not cross INR 2 lakhs per year.
The Post Matric Scholarship is for SC, ST and SCC students whose family earns less than Rs. 2.5 lakhs per year. The Pudhumai Pen Scheme benefits girl students who studied in government schools from 6th to 12th standard, giving them INR 1000 every month.
Lastly, the ZF Scholarship is provided by ZF Company every year through their social responsibility fund to support deserving polytechnic students.
