Dr Ram Mohan Lohiya National Law University Lucknow Uttar Pradesh is a public university established in 2006, under the Act No. 28 of 2005, by the Government. Of Uttar Pradesh. It gets liberal grants and is fully funded by the state government.
RMLNLU Lucknow offers multiple courses under the department of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences. It offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Doctoral, Diploma and Foreign Language courses. Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University Lucknow, admission happen on the basis of entrance exam of CLAT. It offers courses under the department of Law, Social Science and Humanities. The offered courses include BA LLB, LLM, and PhD Programmes in Law, Humanities & Social Sciences. RMLNLU Lucknow provides various courses, and all the courses have different eligibility criteria. Before applying, students must check the eligibility criteria of each course:
To pursue BA LLB, students must have passed their Class 12th with at least 45% marks (40% for the reserved categories). The students will also have to qualify for the CLAT 2026. The students who are in the final year of their degree or are waiting for their results are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2026.
For LLM degree admission, candidates should have completed their LLB degree from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks. The students in their last year of LLB are also eligible to apply for LLM. The students also have to appear in the CLAT exam, as the admission will be solely based on the merit received in the exam.
For a PhD in law, students must have an LLM degree from a UGC-recognised university with a minimum of 55% marks (5% relaxation for the reserved categories). The students will also have to give a written entrance test for admission to the PhD programme.
The students who want to take admission in PG Diploma should have passed their graduate degree in any discipline with 45% marks(40% marks for SC/ST students). Along with that, they should also have been selected in the written entrance test and interview.
Only the students of RMLNLU would be allowed to take admission in the foreign language certificate courses. However, exceptions can be made, and outside candidates may be permitted with the permission of the Vice Chancellor.
RMLNLU Lucknow has a mandatory internship programme for students during the vacation period. Students must do an internship. A lot of students were placed successfully in top law firms like AMSS, AZB, Wadia Ghandy, BMR Legal, etc.
Students of RMLNLU Lucknow have also received various job opportunities in the corporate and banking sectors, such as Price Waterhouse Coopers, ICICI Lombard, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, etc. Students are also serving as subordinate judiciary officers and working as law clerks with the honourable judges of the Supreme Court of India and the High Court.
RMLNLU Lucknow provides scholarships to candidates belonging to reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC of Uttar Pradesh. Also, the students who have their family income less than INR 2 LPA will be eligible to apply for the scholarship at the university.
The scholarships are offered under the various schemes of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Students under these categories are also eligible to have their tuition fee reimbursed. Students under the scheme of central sector scholarships for OBC/SC/ST will also be provided with full reimbursement of fees and will be given living expenses of INR 2,200.
