Regional Institute of Science and Technology was established in 2009 and is the fourth venture of ERD Foundation, Guwahati. The institute offers B.Tech courses approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, Ministry of HRD, Govt of India. Along with this, students can choose from specialisations, such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering.
The institute is affiliated with the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong. Furthermore, RIST is the largest Technical campus of North East India, spread over 130 acres. Regional Institute of Science and Technology Meghalaya offers a Wi-Fi-enabled campus, state-of-the-art classroom & tutorial rooms. It also has a computerised central library and book bank with an estimated volume of approximately 50,000 books, journals & periodicals.

Regional Institute of Science and Technology offers a B.Tech course, approved by the AICTE. The B.Tech is offered in different specialisations, such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics & Communication Engineering.
The duration for these courses is four years, and the seat intake for B.Tech specialisations ranges from 30 to 120. Candidates who want to get admission into these courses should fill out the online application form. Along with this, candidates have to appear for the JEE Mains exam. JEE Main Session 1 will be scheduled from 21st to 30th January 2026, and Session 2 will be scheduled from 1st to 10th April 2026 (Tentative).
Regional Institute of Science and Technology Meghalaya provides a four-year B.Tech course. If students want to get admission into the course, they need to fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
Candidates should have completed Class 12th in the PCM stream with a minimum of 45% (40% marks for the reserved category) from a recognised board.
Furthermore, candidates should also appear for the JEE Main entrance exam.

It provides INR 30,000 per year to students who belong to the minority committee and are pursuing Engineering courses.
