West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS) is a public law university located in Kolkata, West Bengal. The University was established in 1999 under the WBNUJS Act, 1999 (West Bengal Act IX of 1999), adopted by the West Bengal Legislature in July 1999.
In August 2004, the University was notified under Clause (f) of Section 2 of the UGC Act, 1956, and was granted permanent affiliation by the Bar Council of India in July 2005. It is a public university established by the West Bengal government and recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The university is known for the NAAC-accredited NUJS with A+ accreditation.
WBNUJS offers a range of full-time academic programs, including the five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.Sc LL.B.(Hons.),. The University also offers PG programs like 1-Year of LL.M., M.Sc. in Forensic Science, and Criminology & Criminal Justice Science. The University provides full-time undergraduate law Programs like B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.). Postgraduate courses like 1-Year LL.M., and 2-Year M.Sc. in Forensic Science for students wishing to pursue careers in law and legal studies. To apply for the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree at WBNUJS, a student must have passed Class 12 with at least 45% marks from a recognised board.
For the LL.M. program, an applicant must hold an LL.B. degree with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST candidates) marks. A CLAT score is mandatory for both UG and PG law admissions to WBNUJS.
