NIFT Kangra Overview
The National Institute of Fashion Technology Kangra is a premier institute known for its design education in India. It was established in 2009. NIFT was set up in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles and is a statutory institute governed by the NIFT Act 2006. NIFT today has expanded to 19 campuses, and throughout this, it holds the legacy of fashion design. NIFT Kangra got the 29th rank by the IIRF Design Ranking 2023.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology Kangra offers UG, PG, and Continuing Education (CE) programs. The popular courses offered are Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) at the UG level and Master of Design (M.Des) and Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M) at the PG level. NIFT Kangra does not offer a PhD program.
The campus is spread over 26 acres of land. Apart from other campuses, NIFT Kangra is equipped with modern infrastructure, including well-equipped laboratories, Wi-Fi facility, Computer Lab, Network Connectivity and Internet, and Hostel facilities. At present Kangra campus has hostel facilities only for girls with all basic amenities. The hostel is spread over 12 acres.
The campus placement provides a platform for the students to get job opportunities. Along with this, the institute conducts campus placement every year, in which various companies visit the institute to hire skilled students, such as Spykar, Uni Style India, Bentton, and many others. More than 1200 students passed out with successful placements.

NIFT Kangra Admission
NIFT Kangra provides multiple programs in Undergraduation, Post Graduation, and Continuing Education, along with various domains such as Design, Fashion, and Photography. Admission to these programs will be open in November 2025 (Tentative) and the last date to apply will be on January 2026 (Tentative).
Some of the popular programs include B.Des and B.F.Tech. To get admission to the UG program, students must have passed Class 12th and have a 3 or 4-year diploma degree recognised by AICTE. Admission is based on the General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT), and the Situation Test.
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and an undergraduate diploma of a minimum of three years from NIFT/NID is mandatory for admission to the PG program. For admission, students can apply online directly through the official website.

National Institute of Fashion Technology Kangra Admission Eligibility Criteria 2025
The NIFT Kangra provides various Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Continuing Education courses with particular eligibility for the 2025 session:
For an undergraduate course, a student must have passed Class 12th and have a 3 or 4-year diploma recognised by AICTE. Admission is based on the General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT), and the Situation Test.
To be eligible for admission to the postgraduate course, students must have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and hold an undergraduate diploma of at least three years from NIFT/NID.
Continuing education courses require 10th with experience or 12th in any stream.

The NIFT Kangra priorities are their students and their excellence in knowledge. To continue their education without any barriers, they provide NIFT scholarships. The popular scholarship is the SARTHAK NIFT Financial Assistance Scheme. The purpose of this scheme is to ensure that students are not deprived of education for financial reasons, particularly those students who belong to economically weaker sections of society. Under this scheme, scholarships are available for up to 100% of the tuition fee.
