NIE Institute of Technology Mysore Overview
National Institute of Engineering (NIE) Institute of Technology Mysore is one of the most reputable and credible engineering institutions in Karnataka state. The NIE Institute of Engineering Mysore was established in 1946. NIE is an autonomous institution under VTU and approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE. NIE Institute of Technology is also accredited by NAAC.
As per survey conducted by The Week 2025, It is ranked 9th among South India's top Private Engineering Colleges and comes at 17th place in all India level, As per the survey of outlook magazine 2025 NIE Institute of Technology Mysore ranking stood at 11th among all India Private Institutions. According to NIRF NIE Institute of Technology mysore ranking was in the 150-200 band in engineering category.
This institute got affiliated with Vishwavaraya Technological University (VTU) in 1998 and got autonomous status in 2007 from VTU. The institute is one of the 14 colleges recognized under MHRD and its 11 departments are being run as individual research centres under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) under VTU.
The institute offers different engineering and science related programs at UG, PG and doctoral level including BE in Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, etc. NIE also provides M.Tech. in Structural Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Power Systems & Power Electronics, Computer Networking and Engineering, etc.
Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) is also available at the institute as a one of many courses. For both part-time and full-time M.Sc. NIE Institute of Technology admissions are open to its various programs including BE, Mtech, MCA, and PhD is open for the academic year 2025. For the postgraduate program, the institute offers M Tech programs in several streams such as Structural Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Power Systems & Power Electronics, Computer Networking & Engineering, and Industrial Automation & Robotics and candidates must have Valid GATE Score + B.E. degree with 50% aggregate.(45% for SC/ST/Category-I candidates). NIE Institute of Technology Admission Eligibility Criteria 2025
NIE Institute of Technology Mysore offers various Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD programs with specific eligibility criteria for the 2025-27 session. The eligibility criteria for admission to NIE Institute of Technology Mysore vary for each program.
For admission to all the BE programs, candidates are required to have their 12th class with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and a minimum of 60% marks from a recognised board to secure a seat under all quotas. Proficiency in reading and writing English is mandatory.
For the M Tech program, candidates must have a Valid GATE Score + B.E. degree with 50% aggregate.(45% for SC/ST/Category-I candidates).

NIE Institute of Technology Scholarships 2025
The college does not provide direct scholarships or loans, but provides information and assistance to students to get as many scholarships and loans from external sources as could be made available to them. The scholarship is mainly available to the Karnataka residents, who got their admission through KCET, and includes government schemes such as Vidyasiri, EPASS, and others, whose eligibility criteria vary depending on income, caste, educational performance.
