National Institute of Engineering (NIE) Institute of Technology Mysore is one of the most reputable and credible engineering institutions in Karnataka state. The NIE Institute of Engineering Mysore was established in 1946. NIE is an autonomous institution under VTU and approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and AICTE. This institute got affiliated with Vishwavaraya Technological University (VTU) in 1998 and got autonomous status in 2007 from VTU. The institute is one of the 14 colleges recognized under MHRD and its 11 departments are being run as individual research centres under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) under VTU.
