Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli (IIIT Trichy) was established by the Government of India under the non-profit Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model by MHRD in 2016. IIIT Trichy is fully funded by the Government of India, the Government of Tamil Nadu, and various industry partners, such as TCS, CTS, Infosys, Ramco Systems, ELCOT, and Navitas.
The courses that are offered at the IIIT Trichy include B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering (VLSI Design) at the UG level. At the PG level, M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and the VLSI Systems Program are offered by IIIT Tiruchirappalli.
Apart from the UG and PG courses, IIIT Tiruchirappalli also provides a PhD Program in different departments, such as Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Science and Humanities.

Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli Admission 2025
IIIT Tiruchirappalli admission 2025 is done through the JEE Mains entrance exam. The application forms for the JEE Mains Exam will be released in October 2025 (tentative), and the last date for submitting the application form will be November 2025 (tentative). Students who achieve the required cut-off marks in JEE Mains are eligible for JoSAA counselling for seat allotment.
Whereas IIIT Tiruchirappalli invites the application forms in the PG Program after the CCMT Counselling. If the seats are available in the PG programs, the university conducts an entrance exam and a personal interview for admission.
Along with this, candidates are also required to have a bachelor’s and master’s degree with 75% or 60% of marks, respectively, in the relevant discipline. Reserved category candidates are given a concession of 5% in the bachelor’s degree.

IIIT Tiruchirappalli eligibility criteria vary based on the UG and PG programs.
For the undergraduate Program (B.Tech), students must have completed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% marks, along with a valid score in the JEE Mains exam, followed by JoSAA and CSAB counselling.
The university conducts a written test and a personal interview (if seats are vacant) for the M.Tech (Self-Support) program. Candidates require a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks (general category) and 55% for the SC/ST/PwD candidates. Admission to the PG Program is done through CCMT counselling.
For the PhD program, candidates must have a master’s degree with a minimum of 60% marks for the general category and 55% for the reserved category in the relevant discipline.
