Indian Institute of Information Technology Agartala, commonly known as IIIT Agartala, is one of the best technical institutions located in Tripura. IIIT Agartala is established under the Public-Private Partnership PPP model. The Government of India converted the Tripura Engineering College into a National Institute of Technology Agartala on 1st April 2006. The institute was established in 2018 under the IIIT Act 2017. The institute has also received the status of "Institute of National Importance" in 2020 through an Act of Parliament.
IIIT Agartala also provides undergraduate courses, such as B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. The institute takes students based on a merit-based system of admission based on the JEE Main score, and then JoSAA and CSAB counselling. Indian Institute of Information Technology Agartala Admission 2025
IIIT Agartala provides undergraduate courses in Computer Science and Engineering. The BTech admissions are done in a centralised counselling system on the basis of JEE Main entrance exam score. Candidates who are interested should attend JoSAA/CSAB counselling once they have qualified for JEE Main.
The minimum eligibility criteria for admission in the B.Tech program require passing of Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects, with at least 75% aggregate marks (65% in case of students in the reserved category), from a recognised board. JEE Main 2025 tests are held twice a year, and students have the option to take both to better their positions.
After the announcement of the JEE Main results, the qualified candidates are required to enrol in the JoSAA counselling, where the seats are assigned according to the entrance score. Once seats are allotted, students must proceed with temporary registration in online mode and present themselves physically to IIIT Agartala to be verified with their documents and undergo final admission. The B.Tech program admission fee is about INR 1,00,000 in terms of a single payment.
