For undergraduate programs such as BBA, BCA, BCom, BSc IT, BHM and Diploma in Hotel Management, students must have passed or be appearing in 10+2 from a recognised board in any stream. However, for the BSc Agriculture (Hons), students must have completed 10+2 with Science subjects.

For the postgraduate programs, the MBA requires a graduation degree in any discipline with at least 60% marks or a valid score in entrance exams like CAT, MAT, GRE or GMAT. For the MSc IT course, the candidates should have completed their graduation in IT or other related field. For MSc Agriculture, a graduation degree in the Science stream is mandatory.

The Himalayan Institute of Technology provides scholarships to support academically good students and those who are in need of financial support.  The institute offers scholarships based on several factors such as academic performance in previous examinations, scores obtained in entrance exams and domicile status. 

The students who belong to the Uttarakhand region can avail domicile based scholarships, under which they can be granted 20% concession on tuition fees. In order to avail this benefit, students must provide a valid certificate of domicile of Uttarakhand at the time of admission or during counselling.

Apart from merit based criteria, the institute also offers scholarships to special categories of students. All girl students, wards of single mothers, wards of defence personnel, twin brothers/sisters and sportspersons are eligible for a 15% scholarship on tuition fees. Scholarship Process
