Dr DY Patil School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Navi Mumbai was established in 2003. DYPSBB provides numerous courses at UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, Short-Term and Doctoral courses. The admission to these courses is open, and the last date to fill out the application form is October 2025 (Tentative). The students should fill out the application form for the programme they want admission in and pay the application fee. The students will get an acknowledgement email from the university regarding their application form. After the submission of the form, the eligibility criteria of the student will be checked by the university. If all the eligibility criteria are met, then the student is called for the counselling session. The student would get a virtual tour of the institute and a discussion with the admission counsellor. The DYPSBB offers courses like B.Tech, B.Sc (Hons), M.Sc. and many more. The eligibility criteria for these courses are different from each other. Here is an overview of the eligibility criteria required for admission:
For B.Tech admission, students should be 17 years of age. They should have passed their Class 12th from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks with English as a core subject.
The students who have Mathematics in their 12th class will be considered eligible for B.Tech Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics and Data Science/ Food Science and Technology programmes. The students with biology as their mandatory subject will be eligible for Bioinformatics and Data Science/ Food Science and Technology/B.Tech in Biotechnology.
The students belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC get 5% relaxation in the minimum marks required. The students would have to submit valid scores of state or national entrance exams. If none is available, the students would have to give the entrance exam of DY Patil School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.
The eligibility criteria for BSc Hons in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics are completion of Class 12th with a minimum of 50% marks. The students should study Physics, Chemistry and English as compulsory subjects. The student must have cleared their Mathematics or Biology in Class 12th to get 50% marks as aggregate.
The students who want to pursue M.Sc. should have completed their three-year graduation degree. The degree should be from the science stream, like Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Life Science/ Zoology/ Botany/ Chemistry/Microbiology/ Applied Biology/ Biochemistry/ Genetics/MBBS/BDS, or MVSc with at least 50 % marks.
The DY Patil School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics placement cell helps students in securing a job after graduation. They also help students in getting into higher education and starting with entrepreneurship. It conducts pre-placement activities and training to provide students with industry exposure and build networking skills. The placement and training cell prepares students by giving them real-life skills and hands-on training to prepare them for real-world jobs.
